He rambled on for a long time before finally clearing his throat and saying, “How about this? Since I can see you’re not having an easy time, I’ll take these two potatoes for 500 stellar coins total. And I won’t report
you. Deal?
Elizabeth didn’t hesitate for a second. She reached out and took the potatoes back. “Not for sale.”
The man clearly hadn’t expected her to be so blunt. His face darkened instantly, and he jabbed a finger at her. “Hey! I’m giving you a break, and you spit in my face? Want me to call the cops right now? I’ll report you for illegally selling food without a safety certification! You won’t know what hit you!”
His shouting immediately drew attention.
Several long–time customers were furious the moment they heard him.
Not only was he trying to take advantage of her, but he was also threatening the Tycoon Boss and threatening to cut off their mental–power lifeline!
That was crossing the line.
A tall middle–aged man stepped forward at once, positioning himself in front of Elizabeth’s stall and glaring at the long–haired man. “Who the hell do you think you are, causing trouble here? We’ve been buying Tycoon Boss’s potatoes for ages. We know whether they’re good or not. Since when do we need you to run your mouth?”
“Exactly! If you can’t afford them, don’t buy them! Trying to threaten the boss? You think we’re dead or something?” a middle–aged woman holding a bulging bag of potatoes snapped, hands on her hips.
“Get lost! Or don’t blame us if things get rough!” A few younger regulars rolled up their sleeves and closed
visibly agitated.
Seeing he’d angered the crowd, the long–haired man faltered for a moment.
But he refused to back down verbally and puffed himself up. “What? You’re gonna hit me? Fine! Call the police! All of you are hired shills! You’re in on this with her, selling shady food!”
The argument escalated, pushing and shoving starting to break out. The atmosphere was razor–tight, seconds away from violence.
Just then, a sharp voice cut through the chaos. “What’s going on here? Everyone stop! Who said they were calling the police?”
Two uniformed officers pushed through the crowd.
Their eyes swept over the disorder before settling on the flushed, long–haired man.
The regular customers who’d been ready to throw punches felt their hearts drop the moment they saw actual police.
They immediately plastered on awkward smiles, trying to smooth things over

“Officer, it’s nothing! Just a misunderstandin
“Yeah, yeah, we were just joking around!”
“We’re dispersing now, see? All good!”
They were terrified the police might actually take their Tycoon Boss away. If that happened, where would they get these miracle potatoes that helped restore inental power?
The long–haired man, who had been losing momentum under the crowd’s anger, suddenly perked up when he saw the others backing down at the sight of the officers.:
As if he’d grabbed onto a lifeline, he straightened his back and regained his swagger.
He hurried forward, pointing at Elizabeth. “Officers! I wanna file a report! I’m reporting her!”
His finger nearly jabbed her nose. “She’s operating an illegal stall without any permit! And these potatoes she’s selling have unknown origins–no food quality or safety certification whatsoever! This is a public safety hazard!”
The two officers followed his pointing finger and looked at Elizabeth. A flicker of subtle hesitation crossed their faces.
For some reason, they didn’t move to act immediately.
The long–haired man failed to notice their expression. He assumed they were stunned by his “solid legal grounds.”
Growing even more smug, he began showing off his shallow legal knowledge, grinning at Elizabeth as if he’d already won.
“Officers, according to Article 127 of the Kingdom’s Public Order Regulations, setting up an unauthorized stall in a public area carries a fine of 10 to 100,000 stellar coins! And under Article 58 of the Kingdom’s Food Safety Act, illegally selling uncertified food that may endanger health is a serious crime! If the amount involved is significant, that’s three to seven years in prison!”
He crossed his arms and tilted his chin up, shooting Elizabeth a taunting look, his voice dripping with schadenfreude. “Heh. Scared now? If you’d been smart earlier and sold me those two potatoes for 500 stellar coins, we wouldn’t be here. Now? Get ready to pay the fine and sit in jail.”
Scared? Not a chance.
Under the gaze of the long–haired man and the surrounding crowd, Elizabeth didn’t look panicked at all. Instead, a faintly mocking smile curved her lips.
