Chapter 1498: Teach Them To Dance

Cara gestured with her baton, and the boy tried to evade the way that she did, but while he was born Immortal, he wasn’t Immortal Rank, and couldn’t walk on air.

So, he promptly fell on his backside.

"No, no. Not like that at all, keep your balance, sway your body clear of the skill, and use the leg for balance as you sideslip. Like this."

Cara demonstrated again, using an entirely different movement that would more conventionally dodge a blade, the way that a four legged badger would avoid a paw.

Amaldor covered his mouth to hide his laughter as the boy attempted it and got stunned with the baton, leaving him twitching on the ground.

"Close. Again. You’ll get it in one or two more tries."

The boy failed again, and then to everyone’s shock, he actually did it, dodging the baton with his body at an impossible angle, and his feet sliding through the sand.

It wasn’t elegant, and he nearly fell over again, but he dodged the first strike.

"Good. Now, we just need to practice it until you can do it for multiple attacks and string it together into an evasion technique that leaves you in position to attack." Cara insisted.

"Are you Mister Amaldor’s new assistant?" The boy asked fearfully.

"I’m trying to convince him that I should be your new classmate. Do you have fun classes other than his?"

The kids looked at her like she was crazy. "You think his class is fun? The Combat Instructor is a slave driver. He terrorizes us in class.

But some of the classes are fun. We have arts courses in the afternoon, where we can make clay sculptures or paint. That is a lot of fun."

"That sounds fun. I will ask Mister Amaldor to let me go to class with all of you. We can make the most wonderful statues and paintings."

Dana sighed. If Cara started making Runecrafted items in arts and crafts class with a bunch of children, there really was going to be Chaos. But trying to stop her would only make her more determined to make her days memorable before someone really did manage to keep her away.

It was better to let her get it out of her system.

Jin leaned over to whisper in Dana’s ear. "You’re not going to try to stop her? You know that the Chaos Badger doesn’t have the mind of a small child."

Dana shrugged. "In some ways, she does. But she won’t actually harm them, she just wants to play around all day today. Think of her like a chaotic teacher’s assistant, if that helps."

The dragon rolled his eyes. Chaotic and teacher’s assistant didn’t belong in the same sentence, as far as he was concerned. But the Divine Fire Dragons were part of the Order aligned portion of the pantheon, and they never did get along well with the Chaos Dragons or their allies.
