Tessa laughed. "We’ve been thinking of all sorts of names. There is a spreadsheet.
I swear that Karl does it just for the dramatic effect. Don’t think that I didn’t notice that half the beasts also realized and didn’t say anything."
"They didn’t even think it loudly enough that I noticed." Dana complained.
Cara laughed as she poked at Tessa’s still flat stomach.
"This is going to be so good. I can see it already. The possibilities. Ooh, I wonder if that new skill Karl got will work on them? It says nascent magical beasts, so it should, right?"
Tessa turned to Karl. "What is she talking about?"
"I got a new skill for improving things by one rank of potential or quality, and one of the things it can improve is nascent magical beasts. Because you’re dragonkin, and Thor is Thor, there is a chance that the children might be beast enough that it would work on them.
However, we are not going to experiment, are we Cara?"
"Not yet."
"Not at all, are we, Cara?"
"Fine. Be like that. But I’m like eighty percent sure that it will be no problem at all."
If she was forbidden, she could just ask Remi to work on something later.
Karl turned to the tiny Naga, who gave him her best innocent look as she prepped more materials for the Bestial Regeneration Pills that she had been working on with Elder Socrate.
Pills really were so much better than potions. Smaller, more stable for storage, easier to apply. She had even learned that you could just stick the pill in a big enough cut and hold it closed to activate the magic.
How good was that? Only a few potions worked by just dumping them over people.
Plus, if you wanted it to be a potion, you just dissolved it in a drink.
Tian’s tail flitted happily from his spot in Dana’s arms.
{I, for one, am truly happy for you. More little ones is a good thing. Look how happy Lotus is, and she hasn’t even seen them yet.}
Lotus looked up from decorating the cake and gave the little fox a hungry look. He was not going to escape her affection today.
Not when this was a party for him.
The cake was ready now, decorated with little white foxes and [Congratulations Tian].
The back door opened, and Button came rushing in with Lyric right behind her.
"We heard the good news. Congratulations, Tian!" Button gasped.
Eating a full breadstick is as good as an afternoon nap." Lotus explained as she dumped the warm bread into a bowl.
"You’ve really outdone yourself with the new cooking recipes. This smells amazing." Karl agreed.
"Just wait, once I advance again, it will be even better. I heard that there are Immortals with the same skill, and they’re Green Dragons. It’s practically destined that we’re going to be friends."
Karl just laughed. "All you have to do is transform, and you’ll be an instant smash hit."
Lotus’ [Beast Form] transformation turned her into a green dragon barely a metre long, and the size hadn’t changed as she advanced. So, it wasn’t tied to power, it was simply set by the spell.
For her, that was a huge win.
The food was served, and Lotus took a moment to cut Tian’s portion into tiny pieces so that he didn’t have to cut it himself, or get messy eating from large chunks.
The fox didn’t mind, he could clean himself easily enough.
But it was a good excuse to lean up against Lotus, who always smelled like flowers and sunshine.
Tian was unlikely to realize that he was a target of the passive use of [If not friend, why friend shaped], but even if she didn’t have the skill constantly active, Lotus would have been one of his primary targets for affection.
Only Dana, who smelled like fox and magic, was a better option than the tiny cleric.
