One after another, the Elders came forward and gave them odd trinkets, unusual resources, and other items they thought that Karl and Dana would like.
They had forsaken the usual gifts of accessories and weapons, which would just be laughable as gifts to the Clan’s greatest allied craftsmen. So, that left them to get creative when they were trying to find ways to impress the new Elders.
But by far, the best received gifts were the plethora of magical alcohols from the Brewmaster, and the buffet from the kitchen Elder.
There was nothing else that could really compare to those two when it came to party favours.
The Captains of the Elven merchant vessels offered Karl something slightly different.
They had managed to find a nascent wind stone on one of the southern islands, a rare Elemental Stone the size of Dana’s fist. It was weak, barely formed, but to the Blue Elves this was a true treasure.
"The trick to wind stones is that they grow when you imbue energy into them. If you put them in a good nest, with strong wind energy, or a dedicated formation, you can grow them to the point that an entire fleet can surf the waves on their winds.
You will never suffer a headwind again if you have a well-formed wind stone in your possession, only favourable tailwinds," the Captain explained.
Karl accepted the gift carefully. "This is a wonderful gift, and incredibly valuable."
The Elves shrugged. "Gifts are meant to be given."
"I will find a home for it soon, and the Darklight Host will treasure it."
Leo was particularly interested in it, as he could use it in turtle form to casually push himself places without any personal exertion. He could fly fast enough if he wanted to, or float along with the current in the ocean, but the wind stone would be great for days he wanted to be a proper False Island Giant Turtle.
Of course, that meant that he would have to find a way to channel power into a wind stone, and he wasn’t a wind element beast.
He would have to rely on Hawk or Remi, as they could both do some things with wind.
Why did he not have a wind sister? He could just float along on the breeze, letting nature do all the work for him.
Opal laughed at Leo’s dilemma. He could use gravity magic perfectly well, and it would do the job. But that required effort on his part if he wanted to do more than float and let the breeze push him.
Her brothers were a surprisingly relaxed bunch, and she wondered how the new sister would turn out.
She seemed like the lively sort, but you could never tell how they would be once they got used to everyone. She might just be energetic because she was nervous and wanted everyone to like her.
She was definitely the sort that treasured friendship.
At that moment, Skadi was in humanoid form, surrounded by bunnies who were dedicated to letting her try every single variety of snacks that they thought a fellow herbivore might like.
She was a huge hit with the staff, and they had pulled her away from the crowd the moment that nobody was looking.
Dana laughed as she realized that the whole reason they had gathered was already forgotten, and everyone had simply broken into groups to drink and try the steady stream of new food that was coming out of the kitchen.

[ Karl, we need you to teach more people the cooking skill. We’re running short on helpers! ] Hawk demanded.
[ We’re using it to share Ghost Fire so that we can all barbecue. ]
