Chapter 1964: Mellowed With Age

"Matilda wasn’t really a hands-on member, even in the Mortal World. She couldn’t do too much because even as a Supreme, her power was too great for the world that she was in, so she either slept with most of her presence in the Chaos Plane, or she focused on keeping the world hidden during the downturns in the Ley Lines.

The planet has a rhythm, much like breathing, where there is a ten thousand year cycle between the Ley Lines being at the surface and them being deep underground.

During the downturns, the System goes inactive for the population, as they can’t access the Ley Lines strongly enough to activate any of the functions. So, she was essentially left alone in the world without anyone to talk to.

Plus, she’s a Chaos Dragon who can see the past and the future, that makes one a bit odd to start with."

The other Guild Members in the room all chuckled at the comment. The more powerful and ancient one became, the less grounded in reality they tended to be. Many of the leaders who had become Demigods struggled with anything that had been invented in the past few thousand years.

If they were on a world with even moderate amounts of technology, the level that could properly interact with magic and the System, they could be completely clueless.

But they were so powerful that nobody dared to call them out.

A few of the members didn’t already know that Karl had come from Matilda’s world, and the shock on their faces at the revelation quickly faded to understanding, as if the reason that Karl was the way that he was had suddenly become understandable.

They had no idea what they had just walked in to.

Remi was the first to join them, as she had sensed that something interesting was going on, and she had already formulated her training plan.

But she hadn’t expected to find a whole room full of Supreme Ranked members of the Darklight Host.

At least not outside of an imminent battle.

And this didn’t feel like one.

"{ So, what is the plan? You’re all coming to visit until we’ve learned fun new things and the more powerful branches aren’t embarrassed to admit that we’re related? }" she asked, about as subtly as a slap to the face.

One of the members, who Karl immediately suspected was a shaman by her outfit, smiled at the Naga.

"Oh, you’re not so lucky, little Alchemist.

We are all members from the Divine Battlefields, and we have been asked to transfer to this branch to stabilize it and to help build the knowledge base on this world.

If it’s satisfactory, the Guild might offer resources to help start an outreach program. But more likely, they will send you new Immortals from some of the many mortal world branches.

There are at least a few a year, but they get spread out among all the lower Immortal worlds that we are active on, so it might only be a few a decade for this branch."

"{ Knowledge? I like knowledge. What do you have for books? Anything on Naga scale polishing techniques? I definitely think that there is a better way to get them perfect, but I haven’t found it. }"
