Fortunately for the beasts, their planning was put on hold when they received another round of unexpected visitors.
But this time they were not customers.
A portal opened in the city, and powerful aura signatures filled the city, alerting the Lesser Watcher, and the High Priestesses that worked the store.
If Karl was available, they had been instructed to call him to the store, but when he arrived, these were not a bunch of Clan Leaders looking to get shiny new items to help in some Clan War.
They were all members of the Darklight Host.
"Welcome, welcome. I see that the Guild has sent us a whole Host of new customers, please do come inside, and I will have the staff prepare refreshments. You will not find the Blackwoods Branch lacking in hospitality."
The man at the front of the group laughed. "That appears to be true, I sense Divine Cooking in use, and someone in your branch is an Ancient Runemaster. Those items aren’t made by a standard Runecrafter."
Karl bowed slightly. "I’m glad that you appreciate my craftsmanship. Did you have a preferred snack? And coffee or tea? We have both, the bunnies will bring them to us in the sitting room."
"You keep bunnies?"
"Why would bunnies leave the Host? Most of the ones here are members, actually."
The group of new arrivals looked impressed, then laughed when they saw Lala push the cart of snacks into the front room, wearing a white Priestess robe with black and white ribbons in her hair.
"They really did take bunnies as members, and make them Immortal. Oh, this is going to be a fun day. I can sense it already."
Lala curtsied, and brought the cart into the meeting room in the back.
"This Branch really does go all out on the spatial magic, don’t they? There isn’t a single room in the Guild House that is not part of an altered space. I can see why you do it, this place has to be spectacular when you get around it.
But it’s a bit unconventional."
Karl shrugged. "Well, I am a Pet Sitter and an Ancient Runemaster. Separate spaces are kind of my thing. But I suspect that you are all here for a reason that isn’t a critique of my Guild House.
I’ll give you a tour of it later, I’m quite proud of it."
Everyone arranged themselves around the room, while one of the mages went to inspect the books in the shelves.
"Uhm, Branch Leader, are you aware that there is an entire section of the sitting room Library dedicated to Fae Erotica?"
Karl laughed. "Yes, I’m aware. It’s a bit of a long story, but it’s actually one of our most popular exports. The Blue Dragons have been spreading it through the Libraries at an astounding rate."
