Hundreds of portals grew to over a thousand of them, and the news began to spread rapidly.
The Legendary Artifact that had spawned here, the thing that everyone had come with their top Elders ready to fight over, was a crafted item that generated an artificial dungeon.
A fully functional artificial dungeon.
The thought of such a thing even being possible was enough to blow the minds of most of the Clan Leaders. They had fought for territory for centuries, defended every square metre for the potential resources that it could provide. And someone managed to just create an item that would generate a full dungeon on their territory?
If they could do that, did it even matter what territory they held? They could bring their own resource production with them, and have the System just give them more every time that they made a trip through the dungeon.
It was insane.
It shouldn’t be allowed, it had to violate at least a half dozen laws of nature for the System to do something like that.
But there it was, standing in front of them, clearly listed as a dungeon entrance at the base of the tower. That System tag couldn’t be faked, and couldn’t be forged. Their only hope was that it was some sort of cheap knockoff, perhaps a single boss fight that would give minimal rewards.
If that was the case, it wouldn’t be so bad.
But if it was a full dungeon with quality rewards and extractable resources, how were they supposed to just accept this?
Their only consolation was that the Darklight Host would only ever have one. Nobody had ever heard of duplicate Legendary items. And they were absolutely right about that. Even if they made another item exactly like this, the System would spit out slightly different parameters and a different name.
Though, the tower was not actually a Legendary Grade item, but a Peerless Grade, Legendary Rank item. The difference was both subtle and immense. You could have weaker Legendary Grade items, but only a Legendary Rank item would handle a dungeon full of Supremes.
Karl pondered the reason for the naming overlap, and then realized that it was the dragons to blame.
Legendary Grade and Legendary Rank were different words in draconic, but the same in the common tongue. So, while the dragons knew exactly what they were discussing, anyone using most other languages had to guess by context.
Even in Serpent, they were the same word.
"Who wants to go first? I’m willing to guide a team through, and take the role of tank," a burly dragon kin man announced, snapping everyone out of their plotting.
"Five or ten?" Someone called back.
That was the question. The dungeon said that you could do either. But finding ten Supreme Ranked individuals that could work together was not easy.
"Make it five. You want to heal today, or are you on damage?"
"Depends on who we get. If we get a cleric, I’ll go damage."
There was a bit of hesitation, then two identical women stepped forward.
"We will join you for this run, but if you even think about grabbing my ass again, I will leave you dead in the dungeon."
"Perfect. Now, we just need one more, healing or damage."
That made the others laugh, and Oak stepped forward. "Since it’s the first run of the first day, I will volunteer to go with you instead of my own team. I’m a Shaman, but I’ve got a full set of healing skills, and I’m a Green Dragon, so I get a bonus to it.
Now, if we’re all ready, let’s see how my new toy works, okay?"
That would also give the Darklight Host unbiased information about the inside of the dungeon in the five-person mode.
