Ava grinned. “It’s fine. As for the Calligraphy Club you mentioned, I’ve already joined it. Thanks for asking me.”

Troy’s expression changed immediately, surprise giving way to obvious delight.

Ava gave him a brief wave. “It’s getting late, so I’m leaving now. Bye, Troy.”

She then turned and exited the classroom. Troy watched her depart, then gradually returned to his seat and began packing up.

The night outside was as dark as spilled ink, but Starry Heavens University remained lively. Students exited the academic buildings in pairs and small groups, strolling under streetlights bright enough to make the campus resemble daytime.

When Ava passed the library, she went in again and borrowed two more books before returning to her dorm.

When she returned, the road was calmer than earlier, with fewer students outside. She moved toward Orchid Court and, upon reaching the crossroads, someone called her name.

Ava looked around and finally spotted Ivyonne standing with a few girls not far away.

Ivyonne hurried over to her. “Ava, it’s been a while!”

Ava smiled back. “It’s been a while, Ivyonne.”

Several of Ivyonne’s friends waited nearby.

“I can’t believe school has been in session this long, and I’m only seeing you now.” Ivyonne’s gaze fell to the books in Ava’s hands. “Did you just come from the library? The term has barely begun, and you’re already pushing yourself so hard?”

Ava looked down at the books and chuckled. “I just borrowed a few books that aren’t for class- something to read before bed.”

Ivyonne seemed about to continue, but one of the girls behind her called out, “Ivyonne, hurry up!”

Ava smiled. “Go ahead. Your friends are waiting.”

Ivyonne nodded. “Then we’ll talk next time.”

After returning to the dorm, Ava sat on the couch and tapped on her Holoband. The group chat was rapidly filling with messages, mainly from Naomi and Malory. Their dance club had an event scheduled for that evening.

She scrolled through the conversation from the beginning and finally figured out what all the excitement was about. The star guest at the dance club event had been Tylissa.

Zoey: D*mn, your dance club really has some pull. You even managed to get that princess to attend.

Noelle: I was curious why everyone was rushing over there to watch. It turns out the princess arrived. That explains it all. She definitely thrives on all that attention.

Malory: Pictures, please. Tylissa looks stunning up close-noble heritage, influential family, and talented as well. Someone like her definitely inspires envy.

Naomi: I just heard from the club president that Tylissa will choreograph a performance with the club for this year’s welcome party.

Zoey: Is your dance club also performing at the welcome party? I thought it was only for freshmen this year.

Naomi: It’s mostly freshmen, but a few clubs are performing too. The club president said the lecturers and school leaders will be there. Has your class started rehearsing yet?

Noelle: Don’t even get me started. The guys in my class practically forced my name onto the list. I didn’t even get a chance to say no.

Zoey: Same. I’m the only girl in my class, so every event gets shoved onto me. Who even wants to go onstage? I’d much rather stay in the audience and watch.

Naomi: Looks like the guys in the Agriculture Department actually have some manners. @Ava, what about your class? Who’s taking charge?

Ava: The class advisor asked me to take charge of the arrangements, but I honestly don’t yet know what to do.

On Tuesday evening, Ava went to her elective class.

On the first floor, she coincidentally encountered Queenie, who had just come back from outside. They exchanged greetings as they passed by.

When Ava reached the gate of Orchid Court, she ran into Tylissa. Their eyes met briefly

before they passed each other.

After taking a few steps, Tylissa stopped. She turned and glanced back at Ava, her lips pressing together for a moment before she continued on her way.

When Ava entered the classroom that evening, the large lecture hall was already full. She swept her gaze across the room and noticed that quite a few girls were there as well.

Every good seat had already been taken. Ava looked around, preparing to settle for whatever spot remained.

Just then, a girl in a pink jacket tugged lightly at her sleeve. “Hey, sit with me. The seat next to me is empty.”

Ava looked down and noticed a girl with soft features and a gentle kind of beauty smiling up at

her.

“Thanks,” she responded, accepting the kindness and sitting down beside her.

The girl said, “Hi, I’m Joselyn Ewing from the Journalism Department.”

“Ava Morren.”

They shook hands, and Joselyn smiled at her. “I know who you are; I’ve seen your photos on the school forum.”

Ava heard that and stayed quiet.

Joselyn kept going. “You’re even prettier in real life than in your pictures. No surprise the guys from your Agriculture Department have been rabbling all over the forum like a pack of wild dogs.”

Ava looked faintly helpless. “I can’t control what people do online.”

She thought, Can I go around shutting everyone’s mouth? Of course not.
