Chapter 300 An Unfair Spotlight Shift

Chapter 300 An Unfair Spotlight Shift

Not long after, Ava saw that only a few programs were left before her turn. She stood up, picked up her lute, and got ready to head backstage.

But then, Tylissa’s selfwritten and selfperformed stage play got pushed up again.

Noelle’s face darkened right away. Is she ever going to stop? One change wasn’t enough; now, she’s jumping the line again? Just because she’s got power doesn’t mean she gets to do whatever she wants.

Zoey let out a sharp breath. That’s seriously gross. If everyone acted like her, what’s the point of even having a schedule? They might as well just give her a solo show. No wonder they picked this venue this year. Guess it was all to cater to her.

Naom frowned. This is really going too far.

Since the play had already started, Ava had no choice but to sit back down.

They were all frustrated on her behalf, but there was nothing they could do about it.

Noelle clicked her tongue, clearly annoyed. She really thinks this is her personal stage. If she loves performing that much, she should take it to the Grand Theater on Capitol Planet. Why come here? And now I get why this gala is dragging on so long. At this rate, it could run for hours. I swear, I’m about to start cursing.

The play finally came to an end. It had run a little long, and the event was already nearing its final stretch. The audience was starting to lose energy.

That was definitely going to affect Ava’s performance.

As expected, the next few acts didn’t get much of a reaction. Even the number of viewers on the Stellar Network livestream dropped sharply.

Most of the online audience had tuned in for Tylissa. Now that all three of her performances had already gone early, the remaining acts didn’t interest them much.

A moment later, Ava stood up. She smoothed her clothes, picked up her lute, and walked out.

When she reached the waiting area, she noticed Tylissa was still there, chatting with people nearby.

As if she felt Ava’s gaze, Tylissa turned and looked over.

Her eyes swept over the lute in Ava’s arms, then up and down her figure. A faint smile tugged at her lips, and there was a clear hint of challenge in her eyes.

Ava met her gaze and rolled her eyes without a second thought.

Tylissa’s expression froze for a brief second. Still, she cared too much about how she looked in public. She turned away and dide look at Ava again.

A few minutes later, the host announced the next act, and Ava walked onto the stage with her lute

She sat down quietly and glanced at the audience. Then she lowered har gaze and held the instrument close

With a crisp pluck, a smooth and familiar meloity spread through the venue

The piece, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, wasn’t related to Shakespeare’s work. The composer had written it on a summer night filled with insect sounds, and that was how it got its name.

Maybe it was because Ember Lakeset the stage tonight. A light breeze moved through the air, and faint insect sounds could be heard. Even though it wasn’t summer yet, the atmosphere still felt just right.

Ava had never been this focused when practicing the piece before. She was completely absorbed, lost in her own world, and in the dream the composer had created.

The night itself seemed to settle into the moment. Clouds drifted slowly across the sky, and the shy moon gradually came into

view.

Backstage, Zoey wiped at her damp eyes. Oh my god, she’s so good. I’m actually crying.

Naomi watched in silence, fully taking it in. It felt like both a visual and musical treat. I didn’t expect Ava to choose this piece, but it worked out perfectly.

The piece had been around for a hundred years. It was widely known and considered a mustlearn classic for music students. It was basically at a national level.

Because it was so familiar, even a tiny mistake would stand out.

But Ava handled it well. She played smoothly, and the lute gave it a unique sound.

Naomi’s eyes lit up as she kept watching. She’s completely in it. She really got into the piece’s feeling. This isn’t just playing notes or showing off skill anymore. She made it her own. You can hear the emotion in it, and it gives the whole piece a new feel. Honestly, it’s amazing. Even the composer would probably hear this and feel like it’s something fresh.

Naomi broke into a bright smile. She’s already better than some young pros out there. She’s amazing, I’m proud to call her my friend.

Backstage, Tylissa stayed where she was. Even she couldn’t figure out why she hadn’t left after Ava went on stage.
