While Ava carefully looked over the paintings and calligraphy pieces, people started trickling into the activity room, one after

another.

A loud male voice came in as a guy walked through the door, talking all the way in. He had barely said a few words when he suddenly noticed a girl standing by the window. He narrowed his eyes, taking a closer look.

Holy crap, that’s the new student from the Agriculture Department at the welcome gala.

His tone shifted immediately, but his voice was still loud and booming. “Whoa, is the Calligraphy Club full of goddesses now? Since when did this club get so high–profile?”

Ava turned toward the sound and saw a tall guy. He was massive, carrying this untamed, almost arrogant energy all over him.

The moment he noticed her looking over, he walked straight up in a few long strides and stopped right in front of her. He had short, cold–gray hair and blue eyes, studying her before saying, “Hi, I’m Cole Franklin, a junior in the Kinesiology Department.”

Before Ava could even respond, Preston spoke up from the side, “Cole Franklin, the club president, is here!”

Cole didn’t seem bothered at all. “Don’t interrupt. He’s probably not even here yet. Go sit somewhere else. I’m talking to Ava. Don’t jet in my way.”

Ava frowned slightly. Her impression of him wasn’t great.

The moment he finished, another

from the entrance. “Cole! Am I supposed to control you?”

Cole turned his head. The club president had already arrived. He immediately backed off. “You’re here. Well, you’re the club ›resident, so yeah, you can control

ne.”

With that, he stepped back toward the group behind him.

Iva glanced at the young man standing at the door. He had silver–white hair, golden eyes, and very fair skin. He was on the lean ide, but his presence was sharp and hard to ignore.

Cole, a guy that big from the Kinesiology Department, just backed off so obediently after that guy spoke. The Calligraphy Club president does have some serious influence.

She walked back to her seat and settled down.

Calder Yen stepped inside and glanced at Ava before looking toward Cole in the back. As he walked, he said, “Guys, watch your behavior. Don’t bother the girls randomly.”

Cole ran a hand through his hair and said, “How did I bother anyone? I just went over to say a couple of words and introduce myself. How is that even bothering someone?”

Calder gave him a cool look. “If she doesn’t want to engage with you, that counts as bothering her. Don’t let it happen again.”

Cole shrugged. “Alright.”

At this point, quite a few people had already arrived at the Calligraphy Club. Ava glanced around but wasn’t sure if everyone had shown up yet. From what she could see, there were only about thirty plus members. Compared to other clubs, that was definitely

on the smaller side.

What surprised her a little was that among everyone present, she was the only girl for now. There weren’t many female members in

this club.

Calder stood at the front and said, “I’m Calder Yen, a senior. I’ve been out competing resently, so club activities were on hold for a while. I called everyone here today to go over the plans for this semester.”

After he finished explaining the Calligraphy Club’s activities for the term, he.continued, “For the new members who just joined this year, please introduce yourselves so everyone can get to know each other. Let’s start from the front row.”

With that, he stepped a few paces to the side and cleared the space.

Ava glanced over. She was sitting in the second row, but the first row was empty. In fact, the second row had only two people, her

and Preston.

As soon as Calder finished speaking, Preston even winked at her, clearly signaling for her to go first.

Ava had no choice but to stand up. She walked to the spot where Calder had just been starding. Looking at the people seated below, she said, “I’m Ava Morren, a freshman. I’m in the Agriculture Department. I’m interested in calligraphy and traditional ink painting. I’m hoping to learn something new here. Thank you, everyone.”

A round of warm applause broke out. She stepped down from the front and returned to her seat.

Cole came out lazily from the back row and looked in the direction Ava had left. He walked up to the stage area and glanced at Calder. “Calder, you’re overstepping.”
