The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 390

Lilly’s lips curled up in a playful smile. “I just didn’t want to bother you, so I always meet up with Jace at school.”

Tiffany let out a warm laugh.

Just then, Dr. Inge appeared at the door, and Lilly excused herself to step out with him.

In the director’s office, Dr. Inge handed Lilly a folder. “Miss, here are the test results.”

Lilly’s voice was tight with worry. “How is it?”

Dr. Inge shook his head slowly. “The patient is in the final stage of cancer.”

Lilly felt like the world had stopped. “Final stage? Are you sure there’s no mistake? She has always been so healthy.”

“There’s no mistake. She’s probably known about the cancer for years. She didn’t get treatment or tell anyone. Now it’s spread to her heart and brain. She has about two months left.”

Lilly dropped into a chair, her mind spinning. Two months. That was all Tiffany had.

Why hadn’t she said anything? Why didn’t she try to fight it?

Jace and Victoria didn’t know a thing.

In Tiffany’s hospital room, Victoria and their neighbor Tina sat close by her bed. Victoria poured a glass of water and held it out. “Mom, have some water.”

Tiffany leaned back on her pillow, took a sip, and smiled at their neighbor. “Tina, thank you so much for everything you’ve done.”

Victoria chimed in. “Mom, Lilly is gorgeous.”

Tina nodded. “It’s not just her looks. She’s smart too, goes to the same school as Jace. And I think her family’s really influential. She made one call and got you into this hospital. That Dr. Inge who checked on you, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen him on TV. He’s famous. Is she Jace’s girlfriend? Our Jace really hit the jackpot if that’s true.”

Tiffany listened quietly, then spoke up. “Let’s not jump to conclusions. We don’t want to damage her reputation. Jace hasn’t said anything about a girlfriend, and a girl like Lilly probably has plenty of admirers.”

Tina patted her hand. “I get it, but Jace is growing up. He’ll have a girlfriend sooner or later. Don’t you want him to get married and have kids? If not, he’ll end up alone.”

Tiffany stayed silent.

Victoria piped up, all innocence. “My brother won’t be alone. He’ll always have me.”
