The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 445

Jessa turned and walked away.

Before she left, she shot Rachel a look. The two of them exchanged a quick, silent message with their eyes.

David stood beside Wyatt, who checked his watch. “Mr. Harmon, Doctor E should be showing up any minute now.”

David glanced at him. “Wyatt, how do you know Doctor E?”

Wyatt didn’t answer right away. Instead, he said, “You know her too, Mr. Harmon.”

David’s eyebrows drew together. Ella had told him the same thing, that he knew Doctor E. Now Wyatt was saying it too.

What did they mean? Was Doctor E really someone he knew? Had Doctor E been close to him this whole time?

Just then, the host stepped up and addressed the crowd. “Everyone, thank you for coming to tonight’s banquet. The big moment is finally here. Please welcome Doctor E!”

All eyes turned to the staircase. The room fell silent, everyone waiting, barely breathing.

David looked up.

Grandma Jill, Maureen, and Rachel moved forward, eager and excited. “She’s coming, she’s coming! Doctor E is finally here!” Grandma Jill said, nearly bouncing.

Everyone waited.

Nothing happened. The top of the stairs stayed empty.

Whispers started to ripple through the crowd. “What’s going on? Where is Doctor E?”

“Is Doctor E even coming tonight?”

The host looked confused too. Doctor E was supposed to arrive at this exact time, but she was nowhere in sight.

He tried to reassure everyone. “Please stay calm. I’ll head upstairs and check. Doctor E will be here soon.”

He hurried up the stairs.

David’s lips pressed in a firm line. “She’s in trouble.”

“How is that possible? She just went to the restroom. Let’s go check.”

Rachel rushed to the ladies’ restroom. Inside, it was chaos—clear signs of a struggle.

Jessa’s phone lay on the floor, broken in two.

Rachel picked up the pieces and handed them to David, her hands shaking. “Mr. Harmon, look, it’s Jessa’s phone. Was she kidnapped?”

Grandma Jill and Maureen arrived, breathless and worried. “Who would do this to Jessa?” Grandma Jill cried. “Her heart can’t take this kind of scare.”

Maureen turned to David. “You have to do something. Please save her.”

David stared at the shattered phone, his face cold and unreadable.

Suddenly, his phone rang again. Another call was coming in.
