The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 496

Ella was burning with anger, and that dull pain in her stomach started up again. She gave herself an acupuncture, hoping to lie down and rest for a bit. But before she could settle in, her phone rang with that familiar melody. It was Fiona, her best friend.

Ella answered right away. “Hey, Fiona.”

Fiona’s voice came through, shaky and rushed. “Ella, something’s happened. I need your help.”

Ella’s heart skipped a beat. “What’s going on? Are you okay?”

“I just got home from work, but these people suddenly burst into my place. I’m hiding in my room. I’m so scared.”

“Wait, what? Who are they? Did you call the police?”

“I did. They’re searching the whole house for me. I heard them saying that anyone who crosses Mr. Harmon is going to regret it.”

David’s name flashed through Ella’s mind. She gripped her phone so tightly her knuckles went white. He’d just gone after Wyatt, and now he was after Fiona too? He knew how much her friends meant to her, and now he was using them to get at her.

“Ella, what happened between you and Mr. Harmon? These people said Rockford Bay belongs to him, and that we’d better do what we’re told…”

“I’m coming over right now—”

Before Ella could finish, Fiona screamed. It was sharp and terrified.

“Fiona! What’s happening? Fiona!” Ella’s voice shook as she yelled into the phone, but all she could hear was chaos on the other end. Then the line went dead.

A cold wave crashed over her. Fiona was in real danger.

Ella jumped up, threw on some clothes, and ran to the door. She barely stopped to lock up before heading straight to David’s apartment. She smashed the doorbell again and again.

The door swung open. Ella’s fists were clenched, her whole body trembling. “David, how could you do this? If you lay a finger on Fiona, I swear—”

“Ella.”

Ella’s fists tightened until her nails dug into her palms.

Jessa stepped closer, her smile bright and wicked. “See, Ella? You’ve already lost. You can’t beat me. So what do you have left?”

Ella didn’t bother replying. She shot Jessa a cold glare and turned to leave, her heart pounding with anger and helplessness.

Once Ella was gone, Jessa couldn’t help but laugh. She pulled out her phone and dialed Rachel.

“Hey, Mom. Everything’s going according to plan. You can move to the next step.”

Rachel’s voice came through, steady and cold. “Don’t worry, Jessa. I’ll make sure someone takes care of that baby in Ella’s belly. After this, you’ll never have to worry about her again.”

“Thanks, Mom,” Jessa replied, her smile growing even wider.
