David held the umbrella, leading Ella and Lilly across the wet pavement.
Peter and Rachel rushed forward, their voices tight with worry. “Mr. Harmon, where’s Jessa? You’ve kept her for three days already. How is she? Is she alright?”
Rachel’s voice shook a little. “Mr. Harmon, you and Jessa were together once. Please, don’t be so heartless.”
Lilly rolled her eyes. “Really? You’re blaming Mr. Harmon and Ella for being heartless? Maybe you should ask yourself if Jessa’s actions were disgusting. If she hadn’t pretended to be Ella, would any of this have happened? Funny how you never mention the things Jessa did wrong.”
Rachel’s face flushed. “You—”
Peter turned to Ella, his eyes pleading. “Ella, can you let me see Jessa? Please.”
Ella met his gaze. She hadn’t had much to do with Peter. His whole world had always revolved around Jessa, and Ella knew he was a good father. Still, spoiling your child could ruin them, and Peter had to take some responsibility for how far Jessa had fallen.
Ella looked at David. “Let them see Jessa.”
David nodded, and with a brief gesture, Aiden brought Jessa out, flanked by guards.
Wyatt and Fiona showed up just then, breathless from hurrying over.
Jessa’s eyes brightened the moment she saw her parents. “Dad, Mom, you’re here.”
Peter and Rachel looked ready to burst into tears. If the bodyguards hadn’t been holding them back, they would have rushed to hug her.
Ella stared at the Irvine family, her eyes icy. Even now, they didn’t geel a hint of regret. She honestly couldn’t understand how they could be so shameless.
She shook her head. “If you killed someone, you have to pay. It’s that simple. Just confess already.”
Grandma Jill let out a bitter laugh. “And if we don’t? What are you going to do?”
Lilly smirked. “Guess you want to do this the hard way.”
David’s gaze swept over all of them, cold and unyielding. “Everything Ella just said goes for me too. This is your only chance to confess. If you don’t, the Irvine family will disappear from Rockford Bay. I’ll make sure there’s nowhere left for you.”
Grandma Jill went pale. David was the most powerful man in Rockford Bay. If he wanted to crush the Irvine family, there was nothing they could do to stop him.
