The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 551

Moss gazed at Jessa with nothing but tenderness in his eyes.

Peter watched quietly, relief softening his features. Off to the side, Rachel let a small, secret smile slip. All her careful planning had finally paid off.

That night, Jessa headed back to her room, only for Rachel to follow her in just moments later. “Jessa.”

Jessa barely looked at her, her tone icy. “What do you want?”

Rachel tried to sound sweet, almost pleading. “Jessa, I just wanted to see you. In a couple of days you’ll be leaving for the Capital with Mr. Wade. I’m really going to miss you.”

Maybe Rachel truly would miss her, but Jessa didn’t care. She just wanted her to leave.

“I’m fine. You can go now,” Jessa said, her voice flat.

“Jessa...” Rachel tried to reach for her hand.

Jessa pulled away immediately. “What are you doing? Why do you have to be so annoying?”

Rachel froze, hurt flashing across her face. “Jessa, how can you talk to me like that? I’m your mom”

“Mom?” Jessa let out a cold laugh. “You’re not my mom. My mom is Mrs. Wade. You’re just my adoptive mother, at best.”

Rachel’s whole body went stiff. She had gone to so much trouble to switch Jessa with Ella, making sure Jessa became the heiress to a fortune, but she never expected Jessa to turn her back on her the moment she stepped into her new life.

She had given Jessa everything, poured all her love into her. Jessa was supposed to be her hope.

Rachel stood in the hallway in stunned silence, face pale. She never thought her own daughter would shut her out like this and throw her out of her room. There was so much she still needed to warn Jessa about. Jessa wasn’t Moss' biological daughter, and Rachel was terrified she would slip up.

But Jessa was lost in her fantasy of being a billionaire's daughter and had no interest in listening.

“Jessa! Open the door! I need to talk to you!” Rachel called out, desperation creeping into her voice.

Just then, Peter came over, looking worried and a little annoyed. “Rachel, what are you doing? It’s late. What could you possibly have to say to Jessa right now? Don’t bother her when she needs to rest.”

Rachel bit her lip and didn’t dare say a word. She was afraid Peter might figure out something was off.

Peter stared at Jessa’s closed door, letting out a sigh. “Jessa’s finally back with her real father and heading to the Capital. I know I broke my promise to her mother, but at least I can be at peace knowing she’s where she belongs.”

Protecting Jessa had always been his purpose.
