The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 581

Lilly reached for the car door, ready to get out.

Lucas leaned casually against the roof, blocking her way. “I’m taking you to see Jace. Don’t you want to see him?”

She hesitated, caught off guard.

Lucas shut the passenger door, walked around, and slid into the driver’s seat. Without another word, he hit the gas, and the sports car shot forward with a loud roar.

Sarah was left sitting on the ground, completely ignored. She felt invisible, like she didn’t even exist.

“Lucas! Lucas, where are you going? Lucas, I’m your girlfriend!” Her voice was shrill with anger and disbelief.

Half an hour later, the Porsche came to a stop in front of a casino. Lilly stepped out, frowning in confusion. “Lucas, why are we here?”

“Do you know what this place is?” Lucas asked, a hint of amusement in his eyes.

Lilly nodded. “Of course. It’s a casino. This isn’t someplace I want to be. I’m not going in.”

Lucas shrugged. “But your boyfriend Jace is inside.”

She stared at him, stunned. “What are you talking about? Jace wouldn’t be in a place like this.”

Lucas just grinned. “Lilly, you really don’t know him at all. Come on. I’ll show you the real Jace.”

Before she could protest, he took her arm and led her through the casino doors.

Inside, the air was thick with smoke and noise, the kind of place where people’s voices blended with the sound of cards shuffling and chips clattering. All sorts of people crowded the tables, faces flushed with excitement and desperation.

Lilly hated every second. She’d never set foot in a place like this before. She came from a world of soft lights and gentle voices, not this chaos.

Jace took another drag, exhaling slowly. “So you don’t have money. You know what happens when people don’t pay me back. They lose a hand.”

The man started shaking. “No, please… please, Jace, I’m begging you.”

Jace stood up and nodded at one of his guys.

The man’s hand was slammed to the floor, and the flash of a knife followed.

A scream ripped through the room. Lilly flinched, her ears ringing.

She stared at Jace, watching as blood splattered across his cheek. He wiped it away without even blinking, his expression cold and empty.

In that moment, he looked like a stranger.
