The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 618

Richard took one look at the blood soaking Jace’s shirt and frowned. “You’ve been stabbed. You’re bleeding everywhere. You’re not going anywhere but the hospital with me, understand?”

Jace shook his head. “I can’t. I have to find someone.”

Before Richard could argue, Jace was already running down the street.

“Jace, wait—” Richard threw up his hands and sighed. That kid was stubborn to the core. Once he made up his mind, nothing in the world could stop him.

Jace’s first stop was the testing center. He couldn’t stop worrying about his sister, Victoria. She was taking the high school entrance exams, and with everything that had happened between him and Lilly, he was scared Victoria would be left on her own.

By the time he got there, the exams were already over. The three-day test had finally come to an end.

A teacher by the gate noticed him. “Are you looking for someone?”

“Excuse me, have the exams finished?”

“They have. All the students have already been picked up by their parents.”

Jace’s stomach tightened. Where was Victoria?

Just then, two girls spotted him. “Hi, you are Victoria’s brother, right?”

They were Victoria’s classmates. Jace had visited the school before, and with his good looks, Victoria’s friends all knew who he was.

He hurried over. “Hey, have you seen my sister, Victoria?”

“Yeah, someone picked her up already.”

Jace felt his heart drop. “Who picked her up?”

Mr. Lynch gave a warm smile. “I’d bet this year’s top student is going to be you, Victoria.”

Lilly’s lips curled into a bright smile, her eyes shining. She reached out and ruffled Victoria’s hair. “You did amazing, Victoria.”

Then she turned to Mr. Lynch. “Dad, you always say it’s a little lonely with just one daughter. Why don’t you make Victoria your goddaughter? That way, I’ll have a sister, and you’ll get another daughter.”

Victoria quickly shook her head. “Lilly, I’m already so grateful just to be able to stay here with you. I don’t want to be any more trouble. When I start high school, I can live on campus. I’ve worked it out. I can join math competitions and pay my own tuition. I can take care of myself.”

Victoria knew her background was worlds apart from the Lynch family. She didn’t want to be a burden.

Lilly smiled, gentle and reassuring. “Victoria, I know you can take care of yourself. But isn’t it better to have a sister who spoils you, a godfather who’s got your back, and a real home?”

Mr. Lynch laughed. “Victoria, even if Lilly hadn’t brought it up, I was planning to ask you to be my goddaughter anyway. I know talent when I see it. I couldn’t keep your brother around, but I’m pretty sure I can keep you too. In a few days, I’ll throw a party to officially welcome you as a daughter of the Lynch family.”
