The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 700

“So you’re saying I’ll never measure up to her?” Jessa snapped.

Mrs. Harmon hesitated. “I…”

Jessa’s hands balled into fists at her sides. “That’s what everyone thinks, isn’t it? Ella is Doctor E. Ella is Isabella, perfect in every way. She’s talented, she’s accomplished, and I’m just… nothing. That’s why you’re all so close to her. That’s why you never liked me.”

The look on Jessa’s face was so twisted with jealousy and anger that Mrs. Harmon actually took a step back, startled by how much she’d changed.

Lola pressed herself against Mrs. Harmon, whispering, “Grandma, I’m scared.”

Mrs. Harmon hugged Lola tightly, her own voice trembling as she stared at Jessa. “Jessa, how could you say that? We never disliked you because you weren’t like Ella. But this… this jealousy is turning you into someone who could do something so horrible… I can’t even tell you how disappointed I am.”

Jessa’s eyes burned red, wild and furious. “You know what? I don’t need you to like me anymore. It doesn’t matter, because you’re not leaving here alive anyway.”

Mrs. Harmon’s eyes widened. “Jessa, you would actually kill me?”

Jessa waved her hand, cold and commanding. “Take them!”

Immediately, the kidnappers grabbed Mrs. Harmon and Lola.

Lola started wailing, her voice shaking with fear. “Let me go! Let my grandma go! My mommy’s coming, she’ll save us, I know she will!”

Mrs. Harmon tried to calm her, her voice gentle but strong. “It’s okay, Lola, don’t be afraid. Jessa, think about what you’re doing. I’m Mrs. Harmon. If you hurt me, David will never forgive you.”

Jessa shot her a hard look. “Don’t worry. David will never find out. And when I marry him, I’ll make sure to visit your grave every year.”

Mrs. Harmon’s voice broke. “Jessa, what’s wrong with you? This is madness.”

Jessa’s face went white. She stared at the newcomers, her voice shaky. “Who are you? How did you find this place? Stop, stop right now!”

Her heart pounded in her chest. This place was supposed to be hidden. Her plan was supposed to be perfect. Who were these people, and how had they found her?

A calm, clear voice rose above the chaos. “Hello, Ms. Wade.”

Jessa froze. She knew that voice. Ella.

A moment later, Ella stepped into the room, her presence instantly commanding attention.

Lola’s eyes sparkled with hope. “Mommy! Mommy’s here! I knew you’d come, Mommy. I just knew it!”

Ella rushed to her daughter, scooped Lola into her arms, and hugged her tight, planting a big kiss on her cheek. “Lola, Mommy’s here. Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
