The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 739

Love was always a narrow road, just enough for two. No room for anyone else.

Ella nodded, and right then the front door of the villa swung open. Joanna’s assistant walked in.

He was young and ridiculously handsome. Ella arched an eyebrow. “Ms. Johnson, someone’s here for you.”

Joanna glanced over. “Cody, you made it.”

Cody hurried over with a shopping bag. “Joanna, I brought your outfit for today.”

Joanna? Moss’s eyes went straight to the good-looking guy. Someone else calling Joanna by her first name.

It was one thing that Joanna’s company was full of attractive men, but now even her personal assistant was a guy, and he called her Joanna, just like that.

Moss’s face turned cold.

Joanna took the bag from Cody and smiled. “Thanks, Cody.”

“Of course, Joanna,” Cody answered, flashing a sweet smile.

Moss spoke up, his voice tight. “Joanna, who is this?”

Joanna didn’t hesitate. “This is my assistant, Cody.”

Moss pressed, “Why is your assistant a man?”

The way he said it made Joanna lose her patience. “What is wrong with you? Why can’t I hire Cody? He’s still in college, you know. His dad is deep in debt, plus he has a younger sister in school. Cody’s working part-time because he has to support his whole family.”

Moss let out a low, icy laugh. “Didn’t expect you to be so compassionate, Ms. Johnson.”

Cody stepped forward, looking nervous. “Sir, please don’t argue with Joanna.”

Moss’s face went dark.

“You...” Moss was furious.

Joanna turned to Cody. “Let’s go.”

She walked out with him without another word.

Moss tried to follow, but Ella stepped in his way. “Mr. Wade, please hold on.”

He frowned. “Ella, why are you stopping me?”

Ella smiled, her lips curving up, her eyes bright. “I’m not stopping you. But what exactly are you planning to do? Whether Ms. Johnson hires a male or female assistant, that’s her business. I don’t think you have the right to interfere.”

“But I’m her husband,” Moss argued. “I don’t want any other men hanging around her.”

Ella lifted an eyebrow, a playful light in her eyes. “And when you keep your first love around all the time, have you ever thought about how she feels?”
