The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 905

Lilly’s cheeks were burning as she struggled to catch her breath, her words coming out shaky. “Jason…”

Jason’s voice was rough, and the name that slipped past his lips wasn’t hers. “Hanna…”

He had called out for Hanna.

It felt like someone had dumped a bucket of ice water over Lilly’s head. She went cold all over.

So to him, she was Hanna.

Had he slept with Hanna before? Hanna had said they were getting married soon. Did that mean they’d already been together?

The thought stabbed at Lilly’s heart. Her vision blurred with tears. Before she could stop herself, she pushed Jason away and stumbled to her feet, rushing into her room.

She shut the door and slumped down against it, her back sliding to the floor. Pulling her knees to her chest, she tried to muffle her sobs, but the tears wouldn’t stop, rolling down her face like they’d never end.

The pain in her chest was overwhelming. She never imagined heartbreak could hurt this much, not until she heard him whisper another woman’s name so close to her.

She pressed her lips together, not wanting anyone to hear her cry, but she couldn’t stop shaking.

Out in the living room, Jason dropped onto the couch. He covered his eyes with his arm, hoping to hide the flushed heat on his face. The need still throbbed inside him.

He swallowed hard, his throat tight with unspoken tension. He stared at the ceiling, lost in his own thoughts. No one knew what was on his mind, but after a few seconds, a bitter, lonely half smile tugged at his lips.

Lilly barely slept that night. Morning came late, and she didn’t wake up until Victoria called her. “Lilly?”

Sitting up, Lilly blinked at the sunlight. “Victoria, are you feeling any better?” She pressed a hand to Victoria’s forehead. The fever had gone down, but she was still a little warm.

Victoria looked a lot brighter, with more color in her cheeks. “I’m way better now. What about you? Why are your eyes so puffy?”

“I’ll go get the bowls and spoons,” she said, heading for the kitchen.

She turned, but at that exact moment Jason was passing by. She bumped straight into his chest, stopping herself just in time.

Lilly looked up, right into Jason’s eyes. He was already watching her.

She froze, her mind blank.

Victoria burst out laughing. “Lilly! Jason! What are you two doing? Get a room, you two! Think of my innocent eyes!”

Then she covered her eyes, still grinning. “But don’t mind me. I didn’t see anything, so please, go on!”

Lilly’s embarrassment hit her like a wave. Her face went beet red.
