The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 908

“What?”

“Keep Lilly, ditch me?”

Jason looked up from the sink, hands still dripping. Was he even family at this point? He glanced over at Victoria. “What if I didn’t do anything wrong? What if this is all Lilly’s fault?”

Victoria didn’t even blink. “Impossible. Lilly’s always right.”

Jason just let out a dry laugh. He saw it now. His sister was blatantly playing favorites.

“Figure it out yourself, okay? Just get my Lilly back, and do it fast.”

With that, Victoria disappeared into her room, leaving Jason staring at a half-washed bowl, totally speechless.

Lilly stuck around to keep Victoria company. Victoria was at her desk sketching designs for her research project while Lilly sat nearby doodling ideas for a new dress. She could hear Jason moving around in the kitchen. After the clatter of dishes quieted, it sounded like he left the apartment, probably headed for the office. He was always busy.

Later that afternoon, a few of Victoria’s friends from the research lab dropped by. They all crowded into the living room, chatting and laughing. Victoria slid her arm through Lilly’s and announced, “Hey, everyone, meet my Lilly.”

All eyes were immediately on Lilly. “Hi, Lilly, you’re gorgeous!”

“We’re always hearing Victoria talk about you. I didn’t know you were such a total knockout.”

Lilly’s smile was easy and warm. “Thanks. You’re too kind.”

Just then the front door swung open and Jason walked in, weighed down with shopping bags. He’d clearly been by the office, then stopped for groceries and other essentials on his way home.

The moment he stepped inside, the girls’ eyes practically sparkled. One of them leaned closer to Victoria and whispered, not quietly enough, “Who’s that seriously good-looking guy?”

Victoria grinned. “That’s my brother. Jason, these are my friends from the lab.”

Jason gave them a quick, polite nod, cool as ever, then got busy unloading food into the fridge.

“Seriously, with you as his sister, I’m not even surprised. Talent clearly runs in your family.”

They all burst into giggles, the room suddenly even brighter.

Watching the group, Lilly thought back to her own college days. She’d been just as wide-eyed and optimistic, back when she first met Jason.

A sudden wave of nausea surged up from her stomach. The nausea came on fast, and she realized her morning sickness was back. Trying not to draw attention, she quickly stood up.

“Victoria, I’m going to use the bathroom for a sec.”

Victoria nodded, not suspecting a thing. “Go ahead.”

Lilly hurried into the bathroom and just made it to the sink before she got sick.
