Frank was speechless.
He was truly at a loss for words, stunned by Jason’s line of reasoning.
It was clear that when you talked to a powerful boss who was also hopelessly naive, your logic was never going to be on the same level.
Frank was also getting a stark lesson in the destructive power of an idealized first love. Jason was still obsessed with Lilly. He couldn't shake the memory of the socialite who had graced his life when he was nothing more than a kid from the wrong side of the tracks.
Still, as a normal person, Frank couldn't stand Lilly. In his eyes, she was just awful, having hurt his best friend time and time again.
"Jason, snap out of it. Lilly has her hooks in you so deep you can't even see straight."
Just then, the office door opened and Hanna walked in.
Hanna looked gorgeous today. A silk dress clung to her graceful figure, and every strand of her hair was perfectly styled. After all, she had to seize this time by Jason’s side and make him fall in love with her.
"Jason, what are you and Frank talking about?" Hanna asked with a smile.
Frank said, "Hanna, you have to talk some sense into him. Jason is about to go on a date with Lilly at a restaurant."
What?
Hanna’s expression changed instantly. She stepped forward. "Jason, didn't you and Lilly break up? Why are you two getting back together?"
Frank explained, "Because Lilly came to him, said she liked him, and Jason just caved."
Hanna clenched her fists. Why did this Lilly always get in her way? She absolutely would not give Jason up to her.
"Jason, Lilly has been playing with you from the very beginning. She didn't want you when your face was scarred, but now that you're handsome again, she suddenly says she likes you. Don't let her fool you again."
Jason looked at Hanna. "She's not fooling me. She likes me for my looks, and I happen to be good looking. Isn't that enough?"
