The Girl They Ignored Returned as the Woman Seven Men Would Die For novel Chapter 16

Mika actually laughed out loud at his sheer audacity.

Pushing off her knees, she stood up leisurely from her small folding stool.

"Jude Jensen, I'll admit I used to have a crush on you. But I quickly realized that any halo you had was just my own imagination putting you on a pedestal. As for the real you—"

"You bring absolutely nothing to the table."

Jude's pupils contracted slightly, the tight, sculpted muscles in his arms flexing as anger coursed through him.

He had never imagined a day where Mika of all people would utterly dismiss him.

But Mika merely glanced at his clenched fists and ruthlessly pressed on.

"I think you need to get one thing straight. Yes, dating me definitely increases your chances of getting close to Seraphina.

But that only benefits you. It does absolutely nothing for me, and I have zero obligation to play wingman."

Jude scoffed internally.

So she finally spat out the truth. She didn't want him and Seraphina together at all!

All that talk about helping him was just a flimsy excuse for her to get close to him!

Jude let out a harsh sneer. "What, can't bear to let me go? Backing out already?"

"Whether I back out or not depends on your attitude," Mika said, completely ignoring his delusional confidence. She traced the smiley-face pendant resting on her collarbone and drawled,

"You're the one begging for my help here. Shouldn't you offer something in return?"

Money again. Was this girl completely obsessed with cash?!

Jude thought of Seraphina's pure, radiant smile and ground his teeth. "How much?"

Mika smiled and held up two fingers.

"$300."

Jude actually breathed a sigh of relief. Three hundred bucks was pocket change to him.

He looked down at his phone to make the transfer, his tongue impatiently pressing against his teeth.

"You better keep your word. Three hundred dollars to help me woo Seraphina. Otherwise, we're not even going to be friends after this!"
