The concierge realized what was happening, looking up at Mika with a 'not my problem' expression.
"Ah, Mr. Jace, your friend is here, so you can have her help you. I'll be going now!"
With that, he let go of the wheelchair handles and ducked into the closing elevator without looking back.
"Hey! You!" Julian jerked his head up, a look of pure shock and betrayal on his face as he reached out toward the elevator.
But the doors were already shut.
On the digital display, the floor numbers ticked down one by one.
The hallway instantly fell silent, Julian's hand still hovering in the air.
Looking at the imposing pair of white sneakers standing in front of him, Julian swallowed hard and awkwardly looked up.
"Ha... you're, you're here?"
Mika crossed her arms, watching him with an amused expression.
"Oh, I thought you said you were going out?"
"I... I was just about to head out~ To get some sun, haha~"
"Get some sun, huh?" Mika offered a slight smile.
"No problem. Let me finish cleaning, and I'll personally take you out to get some sun."
Without another word, she grabbed the back of his wheelchair and wheeled a despairing Julian back into the apartment.
She closed the door with a firm thud.
Julian's heart sank, knowing there was no escape. Annoyed, he wheeled himself further into the living room.
"If you're going to clean, just clean. Do I really need to be here?"
"If you don't keep an eye on me, what if I steal your stuff?"
Mika tossed her canvas tote bag onto the shoe cabinet shelf and took a look around the apartment.
"Wow, you've kept it pretty tidy."
She hadn't been here for a week, and surprisingly, Julian's place hadn't devolved into its usual state of utter chaos. In fact, it was quite well-maintained.
A few things were out of place, but it was almost negligible.
