"Oh, right. I'll get going then."
Lacking any legitimate standing, Jude was forced to stand up and leave, thoroughly humiliated.
Seeing Jude's defeated, deeply shamed expression, Mika leaned against the wall outside the door, her lips curling into a wicked smirk of absolute triumph.
That was the tragic fate of a simp. You give them everything, and end up with absolutely nothing.
Satisfied with the spectacular show, her mood soared.
With her hands shoved in her pockets, Mika strolled down the hall toward Lucas's room. Meanwhile, Jude stepped out of Seraphina's room and headed in the exact opposite direction.
Suffocating in frustration, his only thought was to flee this place of self-inflicted humiliation immediately. Because of this, he never noticed behind him—
The mastermind behind it all, his 'girlfriend' in name, Mika, strolling away with gleeful leisure.

Lucas's surgery took over five hours.
By the time he was wheeled back to his room, night had already fallen.
As he groggily regained consciousness from the anesthesia, he saw Mika sitting by his bed, slumped sideways over the blankets in pure exhaustion.
Her pale, harmless face rested quietly, her eyelashes fluttering slightly as if she were having a nightmare.
Lucas stiffened.
A complex emotion he couldn't quite decipher flickered in his typically arrogant, wild eyes.
An unfamiliar sensation flooded his heart, creating an unspeakable, suffocating tightness in his chest.
"Cough, cough."
He purposely made a noise to wake the lightly sleeping Mika.
She jerked her head up, her drowsy eyes initially wide with confusion.
It wasn't until her gaze landed on Lucas's fiercely sharp, handsome face that she seemed to remember she was in a hospital.
"Sorry, I was so tired today I accidentally fell asleep."
Mika smiled in embarrassment, looking down at his blankets with a flash of guilt. "Did I press on your wounds?"
Lucas shook his head, his dry lips parting slightly. "Why are you... still here?"
Mika's smile faltered. She quickly reached into her pocket and pulled out the medical invoice, offering an awkward, deeply apologetic look.
"I wanted to pay your medical bill first, but the amount was too high. I didn't have enough money..."
Lucas glanced at the sum on the invoice, a look of understanding flashing in his eyes.
