The Girl They Ignored Returned as the Woman Seven Men Would Die For novel Chapter 50

"Jude, Seraphina and I are no longer friends."

Mika sat in silence for a long time before she delivered the words, sounding completely broken and lost.

Looking at her devastated state, Jude had just been about to frown and ask if she was the one who leaked the rumors, but then Mika looked up at him, her eyes void of any emotion.

"Didn't you say you wanted to try... being with me? So why did you confess to Seraphina at the restaurant?"

The accusations died in Jude's throat.

A second later, before he could even react, tears suddenly spilled from Mika's eyes.

She choked back a sob. "Jude, I really hoped you would finally turn around and look at me...

But if you like Seraphina, you shouldn't have given me hope. And if you decided to be with me, you shouldn't have gone back to mess with her.

Now we're both hurt because of you. Are you happy?"

Jude swallowed hard, that uncontrollable wave of frustration rising in his chest again.

He really didn't want to admit this was his fault, but not only did Seraphina blame him for everything, now even Mika was saying it was his doing...

He reached up, dragging a hand roughly through his hair. "I just acted on impulse this afternoon! From now on, I'm completely done with Seraphina. Let's just focus on us. Don't overthink it..."

"Jude," Mika kept her eyes lowered, her hoarse voice thick with absolute despair.

"Let's officially break up."

Jude froze, unable to believe that Mika was giving up on him, too.

"I might not be pretty, but I'm not stupid. I have self-respect. I'm not some backup plan you settle for just because you couldn't get Seraphina. And now that things have gotten this ugly..."

Mika pushed off her knees and slowly stood up, looking directly into his eyes, her tears falling soundlessly.

"I don't want to be the joke of the entire campus. It's best if the three of us stay as far away from each other as possible from now on, don't you think?"

"Mika..."

Watching Mika display this kind of raw vulnerability and heartbreak for the first time, the heavy block in Jude's chest only grew worse.

He instinctively reached out, wanting to wipe the tears from her cheek.
