Lucas's dark, intense gaze shifted toward Quincy, his voice coming out a little raspy.
"How did she look?"
"Not great," Quincy shrugged. He grabbed a chair, straddling it backward and resting his arms on the backrest.
"Didn't you say she was a bit chubby? When I saw her today, I almost didn't recognize her. She's thin as a rail.
She's probably been going through a lot these past couple of days with the heartbreak and betrayal."
"You went to see her?" Leo and Felix's eyes widened. "And you didn't take us?"
Quincy glanced over his shoulder, shooting them a look.
"Mika is very shy and introverted. If I brought you two meatheads, I would've terrified her. She never would've agreed to come."
"It's not like we're going to eat her." Felix leaned his hands on the edge of the table, his demeanor relaxed and amused.
He thought Quincy was taking this way too seriously.
Leo scoffed through his nose. "She's an ugly girl, who'd want to eat her anyway?"
The next second, a freezing glare shot over from Lucas.
Leo shivered and practically slid to his knees in apology. "My bad, bro. Slip of the tongue. I swear I won't say another bad word about your savior."
Quincy watched Lucas's protective reaction, a thoughtful glint in his eyes. He turned back to Leo.
"Actually, you're wrong. I saw her in person today, and she's really not ugly.
Especially now. She lost a lot of weight, probably from the stress of a breakup and her best friend stabbing her in the back. She's got this very clean, delicate vibe to her. She's naturally pretty.
Have you guys seen those coming-of-age movies? She's got that ultimate indie-movie sweetheart aesthetic."
Leo gave a dry chuckle. He glanced at Lucas cautiously before speaking.
"Even an indie sweetheart is still just a girl next door... Compared to her, I'm actually way more interested in seeing the campus queen, Seraphina. It's a shame she had a falling out with Mika. Lucas... probably doesn't want to see her now, huh?"
Hearing this, Quincy secretly shot Leo a warning look, signaling him to drop it.
