The manor's equestrian arena.
Right now, Quincy and Felix were riding two towering stallions—one black, one white—galloping freely across the center of the track.
Over by the wooden spectator stands, Lucas leaned lazily back in a camping chair, his eyes closed as he rested.
The gash on his forehead had fully healed, leaving only a faint, shallow scar.
The cast on his arm was gone, though the area over his ribs where he had surgery was still tightly wrapped in bandages.
Hidden beneath a black T-shirt, it wasn't overly obvious, but it kept him from participating in anything intense, like horseback riding.
He casually had a faded grey Rick Owens denim jacket draped over his shoulders, his long legs spread carelessly apart.
The way he tilted his head back stretched his neck, highlighting his sharp, predatory jawline and pronounced Adam's apple. His rebellious, strikingly handsome face was drawn into a slight frown, exuding a suffocating aura of annoyance.
Leo stood awkwardly by his side, nervously trying to explain himself.
"Honestly, I was just being polite and brought her along since she was on the way. I figured since you didn't outright ban her from coming, the least I could do was treat her like a guest..."
"Thud!"
Lucas's eyes snapped open. Irritated, he yanked the denim jacket off his shoulders and threw it onto the floor with a cold scoff.
"If you love serving people so much, go to the front gate and personally escort every single guest who hasn't arrived yet."
"Lucas..." Leo flushed, thoroughly embarrassed.
"Go," Lucas ordered, a mocking half-smile playing on his lips.
Not daring to argue, Leo slumped his shoulders, turned, and walked away in defeat.
Lucas rested his arms on his knees, staring down thoughtfully for a moment, before raising a hand to signal Quincy in the center of the arena.
Catching the gesture, Quincy steered his horse over. Seeing this, Felix immediately followed suit.
The two dismounted a few feet away. Felix laughed, complaining, "Lucas, that black stallion of yours hates me. I can't outrun him!"
"That's just a skill issue, man," Quincy joked, handing his white horse's reins to a staff member before walking over to sit beside Lucas.
