The sunlit equestrian arena was a sprawling expanse of vibrant green.
On the wooden spectator stands, a tall, imposing man slouched in a slightly cramped camping chair. Even with his eyes closed in rest, he radiated an untamed, unapproachable aura.
Although Seraphina had never formally met Lucas, and had never seen photos of him on the campus forums, the few fleeting glimpses she had caught of him over the past year were enough.
She instantly knew the man resting alone on the stands was the legendary prince of Juniper Springs' elite—Lucas Lancaster.
The moment she laid eyes on him, Seraphina's heart began to hammer wildly in her chest.
While she had certainly been pursued by plenty of wealthy trust-fund kids, Lucas was in a completely different stratosphere. She had never interacted with someone from the absolute pinnacle of high society before.
Forcing down her nerves, Seraphina took two steps toward him before her courage faltered and she froze.
If Lucas really was planning to humiliate her to avenge Mika, he had definitely read the entire saga on the forums.
And he definitely knew what she looked like.
If he was firmly on Mika's side, he wouldn't be easily swayed just by her pretty face.
If she wanted to earn his trust and change his mind, something drastic needed to happen. Something that would force him to feel a spark of gratitude toward her!
Seraphina calculated for a moment before her gaze slowly drifted to the nearby stables.
The estate's equestrian facilities were top-tier. Not only was the riding track massive, but the stables housed over a dozen massive, muscular racehorses.
She remembered seeing a video online claiming a single racehorse could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Based on the sheer number of horses here, the collection alone was likely worth millions of dollars.
But for some reason, the door to the state-of-the-art stables had been left wide open.
