Full English-Part 1

After the insanity of the day before and indeed the excitement of last night, I decide to skip my usual ‘healthy’ breakfast and instead happily tuck into a hearty full english breakfast. Sausage, bacon, plum tomatoes, hash browns, baked beans and fried eggs were arranged on my plate, and it looked and smelled absolutely delicious. figure my poor brain needed the additional calories this morning to help it process the last twenty four hours. Annabelle joins us as usual and we sit down and start to eat as if everything was totally normal; which for them, it was.
Freya had informed her of what had happened with me the day before, and Annabelle seemed very relieved that I knew the real deal. Apparently it had been quite challenging not to mention certain things to or around me.
“So…I hear you actually saw Freya get naked last night?” Annabelle asks quite nonchalantly after she has sat down. I choke on a baked bean.
“Well…yeah. It was a little weird for me to say the least, but…I will say she definitely has nothing to
be embarrassed about. Kudos,” I joke a little boldly.
Freya laughs at my comment and tosses her hair in a deliberate way.
“What can I say? I have excellent genes,” she replies.
“How are you doing? Like…you must have questions,” Annabelle says. I finish my mouthful and slowly nod.
“Honestly, much better than I feel like I should be, if that makes sense?” I shrug. It was true. Somehow it really was like I’d known something was off about Exton since I’d arrived. I had got up this morning and got ready like I had done for the past week or so, just with added knowledge. No existential crisis in sight. Perhaps it just hasn’t hit me yet?
“I think you’ve definitely taken it pretty damn well. I honestly thought you’d freak out and leave,” Freya says, glancing briefly over toward the dining hall doors before doing a double take with her eyes wide. She then giggles a little and drops her gaze to the table.
“Wow…AB, I was right, they’ve done it,” she whispers. I look over to what had drawn Freya’s attention and see Chase and a very beautiful raven haired girl who I’d seen a few times around the school, striding hand in hand across the hall.
“Well, of course! I’m surprised she waited this long, Chase is just-,” Annabelle says, before doing a chef’s kiss, “I’d have hopped on board that train within an hour. Marked and mated before midnight, baby.”
Freya roars with laughter and I look between them.
“I’m a little lost. What have they done? Who is the girl with Chase?” I ask, wondering what they were talking about this time.
“Ah…yes…so that’s a pretty important topic we did not get around to covering yesterday,” Freyal muses, “among many of course, but it’s definitely something you really need to be aware of now, in terms of dating guys in this place.”
I watch the couple sit down with their food and they appeared to be in some sort of happy bubble. Their body language, big smiles, affectionate touches here and there, definitely portrayed them as being deeply in love.
“You wouldn’t think she’d been Austin’s devoted girlfriend of two years only eleven days ago, would you?” Annabelle says bluntly. I blink several times, a little speechless.
“What, that’s her? Are you serious?” I exclaim before dropping my volume significantly, “how could she?”
I am presently wondering how anyone could move on that quickly, but secretly wondering why anyone would want to leave someone like Austin for someone like Chase. Austin more than matched him in the looks department and where Chase seemed a bit full of himself, Austin seemed quite approachable and friendly…based on my limited interactions with him, of course. I covertly glance over to where Austin is usually sat and see him talking to his friends. I feel a pang of sympathy as I see him look over at the couple, his eyes lingering on them for a few seconds. But to my great surprise he doesn’t seem at all bothered. How bizarre.
“I will tell you everything once we’re done with breakfast,” Freya promises.
After we finish eating, we take some coffee out onto the patio and sit down on one of the tables since it was still half an hour before class was due to start.
