The Longest Week-Part 2

I go back to the room and tell a now wide-awake Freya, what had happened.
“Oh goddess, Cass is so slimy. Obviously, you’re hot and pretty, but I wonder what he wants with you all of a sudden? And to come on so strong like that. He’s an heir to a fairly big pack, so he definitely has his pick of the she-wolves around here,” she says, starting to put on her tights.
“Yeah, I could tell. Everything about him was just so seedy and creepy. Oh! Creepy Cass, it’s perfect,” I laugh. I walked past Freya to grab my shoes and she makes a disgusted face.
“Uhh…no…Cass has scent marked you,” Freya says, looking at me like I am a mouldy piece of food stifling a laugh.
“Scent marked me?” I ask incredulously, bringing my arm up to sniff it. Freya laughs at me for a moment before answering.
“Alphas can leave their scent on someone, like a temporary mark, a claim on someone, so to speak.”
I feel repulsed.
“Great, just what I need. How long does it last?” I ask, into wanting to go on a date with Austin with some horrid smell from Cass filling his nose.
“Relax, it’ll be gone by this time tomorrow.”
We leave the room and head down for breakfast. It was time for my morning reminder of what was to come on Saturday, as I sit down at our table with my breakfast tray. I confidently look over at Austin’s table all the time now with reckless abandon: We were officially going on a date in three days, and he only wanted to go on a date with me. I still could hardly believe my luck. I lock eyes with him and within a few seconds his smile has degenerated into a frown.
Hmm.
“Any idea why your brother is frowning at me?” I ask Freya. She looks over at him and turns back to
“I would say it’s because he can smell creepy Cass all over you. Yes, he can smell it from all the way over there,” she says, stifling a laugh, “honestly, a frown is good. A normal Alpha response is to go beat the crap out of whoever left their scent on you. But luckily for Cassian, Aus knows how to control himself.”
“What! But I showered!” I exclaim, feeling dirty again all of a sudden. know, but it’s basically the equivalent of a dog peeing up against a lamppost to mark their territory.”
“Okay, well, that’s a really gross analogy,” I remark, wrinkling my nose.
“Maybe try and avoid the guy from now on,” Freya suggests.
“Oh trust me, I fully intend to!” I exclaim.
I successfully managed to avoid Cassian for the rest of the week and soon enough it was Friday afternoon. Like others across the school, I was enjoying the random spell of warmth and sunshine that had stayed put all week. I was doing homework out on one of the patio tables, once again.
“I keep asking myself if you’re going to break my heart as well as you broke my nose,” a voice says. I groan loudly when I realise Cassian has sat opposite me at the table.
What was it with this guy?
“Trust me, Cass, I fully intend on not having any effect on your heart, so I don’t think it’s something either of us needs to be concerned with,” I reply curtly, going back to my homework.
He moves to a seat closer to me and clears his throat. I straighten up and scowl at him.
“Come out with me tomorrow and let me show you exactly what you’ve been missing out on,” he says confidently, his hazel-coloured eyes becoming a light amber as he stares at me fiercely. I sigh angrily.
“Well, there are two issues with that. First, I don’t want to go out with you. Not tomorrow, not any other day. Secondly? I’m actually already going out on a date tomorrow, so I am busy,” I tell him, raising my eyebrows at him and leaning back in my seat with my arms crossed. He doesn’t seem at all perturbed by my statement, though.
“So cancel. Trust me, I’m the better man,” he says casually. I laugh. This guy was deluded in so many ways.
“Really, is that right? I’m going out on a date with Austin Landry,” I inform him, knitting my eyebrows together. I am quite pleased by the expression of surprise and annoyance on his face.
