It is mesmerising. Utterly captivating.
Was this his aura?
Could I see them too?

“You’re very distracting,” I murmur, caught between awe and disorientation, lost in the swirling sea
of colours. “You’re… beautiful.”
“Am I now?” he chuckles, his voice closer than before, laced with amusement. “Imagine how
distracting you are to me-a powerhouse of pure light, burning brightly in a room steeped in death.”
I sense it before I hear it-a shift in his energy, subtle but undeniable. Then, the sound of trickling water, growing into a steady, flowing stream. My eyes snap open.
Will is just inches away, his gaze locked onto mine, his expression unreadable.
“You fixed the fountain,” I breathe, unable to look away.
“I didn’t fix it,” he corrects gently. “I simply called on the water and directed it. It was never broken…
just empty.”
I turn, drawn to the sight behind me-the fountain, once dry and lifeless, now overflowing, water
arching gracefully from its center before cascading into the basin below. A quiet sense of wonder
settles over me.
When I turn back, Will is watching me, a knowing look in his eyes.
“Now,” he says, lifting his hand and presenting his palm, “hold up your dominant hand.”
I do as he asks, anticipation stirring within me. What comes next?
“Focus your magic on your hand. Once you do that, everything else will become much simpler,” he
instructs.
I shoot him a bewildered look. Focus my magic? I don’t even know where to start.
For what feels like an eternity, I sit there, trying to concentrate on my hand while keeping my breathing steady. But no matter how hard I focus, nothing happens. My thoughts drift, unbidden, back to Will’s comment about my emotional baggage. And just like that, my mind latches onto a memory-the second time I kissed Austin, on the dance floor.
Of course, I had baggage. I had been actively ignoring a clear connection with an incredible guy, all because I was afraid of future pain. But what was the point? I was in pain now anyway.
It had been a great kiss. Such a great kiss. Again. It made me feel warm, alive, connected to him.
Again.

+25 Points But… somewhere out there, his mate existed. And with each passing day, the clock ticked closer to the moment he’d sense her-whoever the lucky woman would be.
Suddenly, despite my mental detour, my hand starts to glow as it had done in my dreams. I feel a warmth flowing from my core and effortlessly into my hand, feeling warm and ready. I feel elated, but I also feel nervous now at this sensation, new to my conscious world, wondering what the next
step is.
“Well, look who is finally free,” Will murmurs with a smile.
My heart is thumping hard, and my eyes are wide as Will brings his hand up close to my own. I can feel the heat from his hand too. He slowly turns his head toward the plant pot next to us.
“You’ve taken the first step. Now comes the second,” he says, his voice steady with quiet encouragement. He nods toward a nearby plant pot. “We’re going to revive it.”
follow his gaze to the withered remains of what was once a plant. Its brittle, shriveled stalk slumps lifelessly, the soil dry and cracked. Yet, as if guided by instinct, I focus my mind, imagining life coursing through it once more.
Before our eyes, the frail stem quivers, then begins to shift. It stretches upward, straightening with newfound strength, its dull brown hue deepening into a rich, vibrant green. Leaves unfurl, smooth and waxy, drinking in the energy that newly flows through them. And then-slowly, beautifully- roses begin to bloom.
Petals push forward, curling open in delicate spirals, their edges velvety and deep crimson. One by one, buds emerge along the stem, each unfolding in a silent, breathtaking display of life, the air filling with a faint, sweet fragrance.
My hand trembles as I lower it, my breath catching at the sight before me. Perfect, red roses, their petals lush and vivid, now stand where death once had.
I shift closer, my fingers reaching out tentatively. As I stroke the soft petals of one, warmth spreading through me, an undeniable hum of energy thrumming beneath my fingertips. It is real. It is alive. And somehow, I can feel the pulse of life within it.
A laugh bubbles out of me, light and in disbelief. I grin, running my fingers over the rose again, unable to contain the sheer happiness coursing through me.

And it is beautiful.
“This is only the beginning,” Will murmurs, his voice close to my ear, rich with certainty. “And I’m going to help you unlock your true potential.”

“I can’t believe we did that,” I whisper, my fingers still tracing the soft curve of the rose petal, its delicate texture grounding me in the moment.
A smile tugs at my lips as I turn to Will-
But he’s gone.

I exit the greenhouse swiftly. I feel strangely uncomfortable and conflicted.
Excellent start, my wolf, Fabian says.
This shouldn’t be too hard, her magic came very willingly, I reply.
It felt rather strong and also ancient, remarks Fabian.
Hmm. Yes, well the next part of his plan is to double that power of hers, I said.
And how exactly is that achieved? Fabian asks.
Apparently, she needs to fall in love, I reply.
How do you plan on doing that? That’s not something you can do so simply. It isn’t like growing a rose, you cannot just click your fingers, Fabian says truthfully
