Receiving the command was like seeing the chairman himself. Those who disrespected it were considered rebels of the Martial Arts Alliance.
Everyone in the Martial Arts Alliance was well aware of this rule.
Yadiel was the first to rise, no longer harboring any doubts. He knelt on one knee. “I pay my respects to the commissary of the chairman!”
Upon seeing Yadiel kneel in respect, the people of Nuthana Martial Arts Alliance also followed suit, each half-kneeling on the ground. “We greet the commissary of the chairman!”
The only ones left were Jasper and Corbin. Kieran had yet to make a move.
Finnegan cast a cold glance over them. “What now? You questioned Mr. Sheppard's authority, and now you're even doubting the South-North Badge of the Martial Arts Alliance?”
With a jolt, Kieran found himself compelled to rise, only to kneel on one knee.
“Greetings to the commissary of the chairman!”
Neither Jasper nor his son dared to persist any further. They knelt down and said, “We pay our respects to the commissary of the chairman!”
In an instant, the meeting hall was filled with people kneeling on the ground.
Eugene watched, his whole body trembling with excitement.
Finnegan is formidable!
With a cold huff, Finnegan took a seat on the chair that Josef had pulled out for him. “Get up!” he commanded.
At this point, everyone finally rose, taking their seats in succession. Josef also sat down next to Finnegan.
Yet, the atmosphere was very quiet; no one was speaking.
It was evidently still somewhat bewildering that Finnegan, at such a young age, was actually a commissary of the chairman.
Finnegan couldn't care less about what they were thinking. Accepting a cup of tea from a female disciple of the Martial Arts Alliance, he said, “The crowd is making the air a bit stuffy. Anyone who isn't an elder or in charge of this meeting, please leave!”
As soon as these words were spoken, those standing behind the heads of the various guilds and the elders couldn't help but frown.
They had pleaded earnestly with their elders before they were allowed to come along.
Hesitant, Yadiel turned around and said, “You all should leave first.”
His son and daughter, along with a few of his apprentices, nodded their heads and then left the meeting hall.
With Yadiel leading the way, the others found it inappropriate to keep their own descendants behind, so they let them all leave.
The meeting hall soon became somewhat more spacious.
Yet, Corbin continued to stand behind Jasper, wearing an expression that set him apart from the others.
A faint smirk played at the corners of Finnegan's mouth, yet he didn't call out his name. Instead, he turned to Yadiel and asked, “Mr. Sherman, what was the message that the headquarters sent to Nuthana Martial Arts Alliance yesterday?”
Although Yadiel was somewhat uncomfortable with Finnegan being the commissary of the chairman, he still responded courteously, “The headquarters announced that at ten o'clock this morning, all the major guild masters and elders were to gather. The commissary of the chairman was to preside over the election of the new president of Nuthana Martial Arts Alliance!”
With a sigh, Finnegan waved his hand lightly. “Would those who are not from Nuthana Martial Arts Alliance or an elder, please leave the room!”
The scene immediately fell into silence.
In the next moment, all eyes were on Jasper.
It was obvious Finnegan was referring to him.
Jasper regained his composure, his expression darkening. “Mr. Larkin, although I am not the presiding officer or elder of Nuthana Martial Arts Alliance, I am a candidate for the president position recommended by Old Mr. Luzon and two other elders. It wouldn't be appropriate to ask me to leave, would it?”
Hesitant, Yadiel began to speak. “Mr. Larkin, Jasper—”
“Jasper, right?” Finnegan looked straight at Jasper. “I have a question for you. If your answer satisfies me, then you can stay here and continue running for president, okay?”
With a stern look in his eyes, Josef concentrated his inner energy into his hand and reached out. In one swift move, he pulled Corbin right in front of him.
Before Jasper could intervene, he swung his right hand back and forth, swiftly delivering ten slaps to Corbin's face.
How could Corbin, a person of the Enigma Realm, possibly resist the slap of a person who had reached the Absolute Rank of Terra Realm?
Right after that, Corbin's eyes rolled back, and he passed out.
Jasper rose to his feet with a somber expression. “Josef, what is the meaning of this?”
Josef met Jasper's intense gaze. “Defying the commissary of the chairman is equivalent to defying the chairman himself. It's like a slap in the face! If you continue to disrespect the commissary's orders, don't blame me for being ruthless.”
The overwhelming pressure surged forward, bearing down entirely on Jasper.
The latter wanted to grit his teeth and bear it, but his own cultivation was not as strong as Josef's. He felt a dry and salty sensation in his throat, as if a mouthful of fresh blood was stuck at the pit of his throat.
At this point, he realized that his aspiration to become the president of Nuthana Martial Arts Alliance today was impossible.
Gritting his teeth, he shot Finnegan a fierce glare.
With that, he grabbed the previously unconscious Corbin. “Very well. Very well!”
He turned around and walked out of the meeting hall's grand doors, intending to inform his father that Walter had intervened.
Since Walter had not given his consent, even Josef did not dare to drive him out.
And his departure, much to Kieran's relief, had significantly lightened his mood.
Thus, he was the only remaining candidate for the position of president.
However, Finnegan's following words left him seething with rage, almost spitting out a mouthful of blood in frustration. “According to the traditions of the Martial Arts Alliance, there must be two candidates competing for the position of local president. If not, the position will be temporarily held by the headquarters! However, the situation in Nuthana Martial Arts Alliance is unique, affecting the distribution of resources across eight states. Therefore, the position of the president could not be left vacant. Therefore, I nominate Mr. Yadiel Sherman as one of the candidates for the presidency!”
