Cameron's identity not only took Finnegan by surprise but also gave him a bit of a headache.
After hanging up the phone with Reynard, he remained in the backyard, racking his brain for a solution regarding the issue with Cameron.
Killing him is inevitable! But how should I do so?
“Have some coffee, Mr. Finnegan!”
As he was deep in thought, a pervasive scent of perfume wafted into his nostrils. Hailey had brought a pot of coffee over.
Finnegan frowned and said, “I don't like this smell!”
Taken aback for a moment, Hailey nodded. “I won't use perfume anymore in the future.”
Taking the coffee she poured for him, Finnegan casually glanced at her. “Your attire seems to be normal now.”
In the past, Hailey's dressing style used to be rather revealing and sexy. But now, she was dressed more modestly.
Additionally, her previously rather heavy makeup had now transformed into a light one.
Overall, there were changes compared to before.
Hailey moved behind Finnegan and naturally massaged his head. “I will change anything that you don't like, Mr. Finnegan.”
Taking a sip of his coffee, Finnegan said, “I admire your cleverness. You know just how to please your master.”
He paused before adding, “By the way, I have a question for you.”
“Go ahead, Mr. Finnegan.”
Finnegan asked, “If someone wants to kill you, but this person is also very important to a pretty good friend of yours, would you kill him or not?”
Raising an eyebrow subtly, Hailey asked, “Is it absolutely necessary to kill this person?”
“Yes.”
“There are two solutions. Plan an accident without letting that friend know about it or let that friend see the true colors of that person and know he deserves to die,” Hailey replied.
Upon hearing that, Finnegan gradually flashed her a smile and complimented, “Hailey, back then, Liam truly underestimated you by treating you merely as a plaything.”
“But without him, I wouldn't have had the chance to meet you, Mr. Finnegan,” Hailey argued expressionlessly.
A meaningful smile curved Finnegan's lips. He already had a rough strategy for dealing with Cameron deep within.
“All right, go on with your work. I'll just...”
At that moment, Casper walked in.
Upon seeing Hailey massaging Finnegan's head, he faltered momentarily. Then, he said, “Finnegan, there was a message in our high school alumni group chat earlier. There's a high school reunion tonight. Our campus belle, Madison, even messaged me privately, reminding me to tell you about it and bring you along.”
“I'm busy!” Finnegan declined without any hesitation.
It wasn't that he was indifferent to old acquaintances, but rather, he was somewhat introverted during his school days, so his relationship with most of his classmates was shallow.
Moreover, some classmates reveled in the misfortune of his family being destroyed by Killian. Thus, Finnegan really didn't want to entertain them.
Of course, there was another crucial reason—he felt awkward whenever he encountered Madison.
Casper burst into laughter. “Finnegan, could it be that you're afraid to meet Pretty Maddy?”
As Finnegan's childhood friend, he knew that Madison had written love letters to Finnegan and even confessed her feelings to him.
Naturally, Finnegan wouldn't admit to that. “She's not a monster, so why would I be afraid of her? It's just that Bernie's best friend invited us for dinner tonight. I really don't have the time.”
“So, you're really not going?”
“No.”
In the evening, Finnegan took a taxi to a high-end meat fondue restaurant with the location given by Bernice.
Cindy had invited him and Bernice for dinner there that night.
“I thought Melons was going to treat me to Epean cuisine. But it looks like she prefers local cuisine.”
Murmuring to himself, Finnegan stepped into the restaurant. Led by the server, he went to the small private room Cindy had reserved in advance and sat down to wait.
Before long, the door was pushed open, but only Cindy walked in.
Finnegan cast his gaze beyond her shoulder and asked, “Where's my wife?”
“We had barely reached the door when she left.”
Cindy set her bag down, pulled out a chair, and plopped down.
Would Millicent and Bishop's family cooperate? After all, Millicent is neither Patrick's biological mother nor Bernice's biological maternal grandmother.
Vodka?
Cindy's ruby lips twitched. “Finnegan, are you sure you're not trying to get me drunk to take advantage of me?”
“I'll drink by myself then, okay?”
Not wanting Cindy to overthink it, Finnegan smiled bitterly, retracted his wine glass, and downed the contents in one gulp.
Seeing that, Cindy wondered if she was being a bit overly suspicious.
A hint of embarrassment crept into her. “I'll toast you to this one glass as a token of my gratitude for curing my illness. After this, let's take our time and drink slowly.”
Raising her glass, she tossed back the vodka.
However, since she was unused to it, she choked and coughed. Her face turned beet red as well.
“If you can't drink, don't force yourself. Here, have a bowl of soup instead.”
Seeing her choke to the point of tears, Finnegan quickly served her a bowl of soup.
A burning sensation seared Cindy's throat, and her stomach churned uncomfortably.
Therefore, she couldn't be bothered that the bowl Finnegan served the soup was his own, merely picking it up and guzzling it.
Only then did her throat and stomach feel better. However, her head was already spinning slightly.
Finnegan chuckled and was about to take more food for himself when he realized he had used his bowl to serve Cindy the soup.
Darn it! That was a mistake!
With her cheeks flushed, Cindy pushed the bowl back at him. “Go ahead and eat.”
However, it was uncertain whether her flushed face was due to drinking too hastily or from the realization that she had shared an indirect kiss with Finnegan.
Pretending not to notice the awkwardness, Finnegan picked up his bowl and continued eating.
Cindy kept her head down and remained silent as if she didn't know Finnegan at all.
The awkward and silent ambiance persisted briefly before someone suddenly pushed the door open and walked in without even bothering to knock.
“It's really you, Ms. Zalder? I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when you first entered the restaurant!”
