Madison raised an eyebrow, asking, “What's going on?”
After listening carefully, Finnegan roughly understood. “It seems someone wants to find a financial backer. It's just a matter of getting used to it.”
Upon hearing this, Madison also understood what was going on.
Upon seeing Finnegan's calm expression, she expressed surprise. “Aren't you going to intervene?”
Back then, when Finnegan saved Bernice, the situation was quite similar to the present.
However, Finnegan's attitude had changed.
In this world, there's no such thing as a free lunch, and pies don't just fall from the sky without reason. Everything comes at a price! Finnegan took a light sip of his wine. “If it were baseless coercion, I might consider it. But now, the one being forced is clearly someone who has reaped benefits. Why should I interfere?”
A complex expression crossed Madison's face. “Finnegan, you've truly changed.”
“Did I change for the better?”
After a moment of thought, Madison responded with a smile, “From a moral perspective, I find your attitude quite indifferent and heartless. But from the standpoint of a classmate and friend, I think it's acceptable, as it doesn't cause trouble for yourself.”
But no sooner had she finished speaking than a commotion arose from outside.
Moreover, one could hear the sound of a resounding slap and the woman's increasingly vicious words.
“Lindsey, I gave you an opportunity as soon as you graduated from college and even made you a full-time employee immediately. Later, within a month, I promoted you to the position of store manager, catapulting you directly into the ranks of those earning a million annually. Now you're hesitating to repay me. Do you really think I, Sabrina, am easy-going? Did you really think I gave you that opportunity because I valued your abilities? Let me tell you something. It was only because you're good-looking that I thought you might come in handy one day. Otherwise, do you really think you'd have a chance at being the store manager?”
Finnegan's gesture faltered, and he abruptly looked up when he heard the harsh words of that woman.
The spiritual energy swirled and concentrated in his eyes, allowing him to see through the wall in an instant.
He saw Lindsey, who he hadn't seen for some time, being held up by two men, her mouth covered. Despite her struggles, it was to no avail.
In front of her was a woman in her early forties, still exuding an air of charm.
Nearby, there stood a young man with a lewd smile and frivolous demeanor.
Suddenly, anger surged within Finnegan. He slammed his wine glass onto the table and stood up.
Madison asked in surprise, “Finnegan, what's wrong with you?”
There was no response from him.
Finnegan strode straight to the door of the private room and walked out. “Let her go!”
This turn of events left Madison utterly astonished. Didn't he just say he didn't care?
The attention of the crowd was suddenly drawn by Finnegan's unexpected shout.
Lindsey saw Finnegan, and her heart was instantly filled with joy.
Seizing the moment when her captor was distracted, she quickly pushed away the hand covering her mouth and cried out, “Finnegan!”
“I see. He's someone you know.” Sabrina Terrano sneered, “And here I thought some hot-blooded youth was trying to save a damsel in distress.”
In a cold voice, Finnegan demanded, “Let her go!”
Sabrina's face stiffened. She hadn't expected Finnegan to have such an attitude. “Brat, do you know who I am?” she asked.
“Let her go!”
The only response to Sabrina was a single sentence.
That made Sabrina feel particularly humiliated.
Upon seeing the displeasure on the face of the young man she was trying to curry favor with, her annoyance grew even more. “Brat, I am Lindsey's boss. I strongly advise you not to meddle in affairs that don't concern you. Tonight, all I want is for Lindsey to repay the favor she owes me for all these years of support!”
Lindsey retorted, “You're talking nonsense. I stopped owing you a long time ago.”
“What did you say? You don't owe me?”
The young man couldn't help but furrow his brow.
“Ms. Lindsey, are you all right?” Finnegan walked up to Lindsey.
Lindsey covered her face and shook her head. “I'm fine.”
Finnegan turned around, his gaze sweeping over Sabrina and the young man. “What happened?”
When asked about the matter, Lindsey responded irritably, “That's my boss, Sabrina Terrano, and the other one is Christopher Royle, the son of Porsche's main dealership in Nuthana.”
The cause of that night's events was that the Porsche market in Jadeborough was saturated. There was a need to eliminate some dealers and reduce the number of Porsche dealerships to eight.
Then, in order to protect her own shop, Sabrina resorted to underhanded tactics.
Lindsey was sacrificed to appease Christopher Royle.
Upon hearing those words, a playful smirk involuntarily formed on Finnegan's lips. Indeed, like father, like son!
During dinner, he had just reprimanded Beckett, and then he encountered his son intending to do the same thing.
“Did you hear that?” Sabrina, oblivious to Finnegan's peculiar expression, sneered and said, “Let me tell you something else. Mr. Christopher's family is not only the main dealership of Porsche in Nuthana, but they are also the Royle family of Bellridge!”
Upon hearing Sabrina introduce himself, Christopher slightly lifted his head, a proud smile playing on his lips.
However, Finnegan remained completely unfazed. “Are you done talking?”
Sabrina asked in bewilderment, “Do you know about the Royle family?”
Finnegan pointed toward the underground passage. “I don't need to know about the insignificant Royle family. However, if you kneel down now and slap yourself ten times as an apology to Ms. Lindsey, I might consider sparing you this once, considering your past support for Ms. Lindsey.”
Upon hearing Finnegan asking her to kneel down and apologize, Sabrina angrily retorted, “Brat, who do you think you are?”
Christopher was also infuriated by Finnegan's words. “Are you sure about calling my family insignificant? Brat, you've successfully angered me. So now, I'm giving you a chance as well. Kneel down, slap yourself ten times, and apologize to me and Ms. Terrano. If you leave these two women behind, I can mercifully forgive your ignorance and arrogance!”
