The Healing Avenger novel Chapter 407

“Tim! Hurry up and save Tim!”

When Millicent and her family alighted from the vehicle, Timothy had already been stabbed over ten times, his body sprawled in a pool of blood.

And yet, Jacques laughed heartily as he plunged his knife into Timothy's heart. “No one can save you, you scoundrel, you despicable opportunist. Die with me!”

At the same time, he muttered under his breath, “Finnegan, thank you!”

Life was gradually ebbing away from Timothy. He opened his mouth, only to cough up a mouthful of blood.

But it was at this moment that he understood the meaning of the words Finnegan had said before he left.

He had planned to give him a bouquet of flowers on this day next year because he was going to die today.

Reflecting on this, Timothy spat out several mouthfuls of blood. He breathed his last by the time the four nearby bodyguards arrived to apprehend Jacques.

Bishop rushed forward, not bothering to settle scores with Jacques.

Lying next to Timothy, he called out, “Tim, Tim?”

However, Timothy had no more breath left in him, and despite Bishop's calls and shakes, there was no response.

Suddenly feeling dizzy, Sapphire collapsed onto the ground. “Tim, Tim!”

Millicent abruptly sat down on the ground, crying out, “Quick, call an ambulance. Call an ambulance!”

Pausing for a moment, she pointed at Jacques and roared in fury, “Why did you kill my precious grandson? I want you dead. I want you dead. Kill him for me!”

But just at that moment, the sirens sounded from far away.

Five police cars swiftly arrived at the scene.

Having been notified at the last minute by Finnegan, Romona, dressed in plain clothes, led her team over. “We just received a report from Finnegan. Timothy has allegedly hired a hitman to kill him. We would like Timothy to come with us to assist in the investigation.”

What?

Millicent lifted her head, her face filled with bewilderment.

Bishop exclaimed angrily, “Nonsense! It was Finnegan who caused trouble for my son. When did my son ever hire a hitman to kill him?”

Tears streaming down his aged face, he added, “Besides, my son has been murdered. How is he supposed to assist in the investigation? And it must have been Finnegan who had someone kill him!”

Millicent crawled up to Timothy and said, “Yes, it must be that damned Finnegan who hired someone to kill my grandson. You all need to hurry up and arrest him. This murderer is the living proof!”

Aware of the situation, Romona said in a solemn tone, “We will investigate what you've told us. For now, we need to take Timothy's body and this person back with us. Please, make way.”

Over a dozen officers stepped forward. They pulled Millicent and her family aside, escorting Jacques and Timothy away together.

Romona turned her head toward Millicent and the others. “I'm afraid you'll also need to come with us and assist in the investigation regarding this matter.”

“My grandson is already dead. Why should we?”

“We're just going through with the procedures. Please.”

On the way back to Dragon Bay, Finnegan was whistling contentedly.

After slowly digesting and understanding the sequence of events, Hailey sighed and said, “No wonder you chose to keep Jacques that night.”

At first, Hailey didn't understand why Finnegan had shown mercy to Jacques, whom he initially wanted to kill.

But now she understood that Finnegan's decision to spare Jacques was not truly out of kindness.

Instead, Finnegan had already devised such a plan when he learned of Jacques' resentment toward Timothy.

Finnegan glanced at Hailey, his words laden with deep meaning as he said, “I believe I've told you before that I admire your intelligence, but I don't wish for you to be too clever.”

“I was wrong.”

“Don't try to be smart next time,” Finnegan said, shifting his gaze back to the window and humming a tune.

Had it not been for Timothy's act of kicking Jacques when he was down, Finnegan would not have found such a perfect way to eliminate Timothy without implicating himself.

At that moment, the door was pushed open, and Alisha, clad in a red tulle nightgown, walked in. She was carrying a bowl of freshly cooked mushroom soup. “It seems you're in a good mood tonight, Devious Boy!”

Finnegan turned around, his brows slightly furrowed. “I don't care if you want to dress like this, but can you at least wear something underneath? It's all showing.”

Alisha placed the soup in front of him, her eyes sparkling with a hint of amusement. “Have you lifted your head? Do you want it?”

“Get out!”

Meanwhile, Bernice's family had left the Zimmerman residence in Xendale.

Patrick raised his eyelids slightly and asked, “What did Finnegan say?”

Bernice relayed the entire content of her recent conversation with Finnegan to Patrick.

“So, Timothy's subsequent death has no connection whatsoever with Finnegan.”

After acknowledging with a grunt, Patrick closed his eyes. His eyebrows were tightly knitted together, and his complexion looked rather unwell.

Upon noticing that, Bernice asked, “Dad, what's wrong?”

Jennifer spoke up. “It's nothing serious. Your dad has been a bit worn out these past few days, assisting your grandmother in taking over the company. Being woken up so late has made him a bit tired.”

Of course, all of this was a lie to Bernice.

Having seen the video in the file sent by Finnegan, Jennifer was aware that Patrick was currently in a dilemma.

The dilemma was whether to handle it calmly or to brazenly confront it and leave without a care.

After all, once those matters got out, regardless of who was right or wrong, the Zimmerman family would become the laughingstock of others.

Bernice didn't overthink it. “I just hope that Grandma keeps her word and truly allows Finnegan to treat Grandpa in the future!”
