“It's impossible. I'm certain that my grandson was killed by someone sent by Finnegan.”
“Is there really such a coincidence in this world? No sooner had Finnegan left than my son was killed?”
“You are clearly favoring him. You are protecting Finnegan!”
When Bernice's family arrived at the police department, Millicent and the others were in the midst of a heated dispute with a policeman.
Patrick walked over and asked, “Mom, what's wrong?”
Upon hearing the sound, Millicent turned her head back.
Following this, a slap landed on Patrick's face, and then another was dealt to Bernice. “Speak up. Did your family incite Finnegan to have Timothy killed?”
Sapphire said spitefully, “They must have instigated it. Because with Tim's death, there's no point in our family fighting over the inheritance anymore!”
Upon hearing this, Millicent raised her hand, ready to slap again.
“What are you doing?” At that moment, Romona approached with a cold expression on her face. “Do you think the police department is your family's property?”
Patrick said with a bitter expression, “Mom, Tim's death has nothing to do with Finnegan. Before coming here, I have already asked Bernie to call and inquire.”
Millicent exclaimed, “Impossible! Tim was such a well-behaved and obedient boy. Who would kill him without any reason?”
“Obedient?” Romona sneered.
Millicent replied, “That's right. My grandson is very well-behaved. He never offend anyone. Finnegan must have hired the murderer.”
Romona snorted. “Looks like you won't be convinced until you're faced with grim reality. Follow me!”
“Just you wait!” Millicent shot a glare at Bernice's family before following along.
They arrived at an office.
Romona tossed several documents to Millicent and projected a video. “Your grandson is very obedient and well-behaved, huh? Then explain to me why he wanted to hire a hitman to kill Finnegan. Don't accuse the police department of falsifying information. The person he looked for is currently detained here, ready to be confronted at any moment.”
The evidence consisted of Mr. Know-It-All's testimonies and the bank information regarding a transfer of ten million made by Timothy to him.
The video was the footage of when Mr. Know-It-All gave his statement.
The expression on Millicent's face changed. He hadn't expected that Timothy was truly intent on hiring a hitman to kill Finnegan.
But in an instant, she tossed the documents onto the table. “Even if Tim did it, is Finnegan dead? On the contrary, these documents prove that Finnegan had a motive to kill Tim. He must have hired someone to kill him.”
Sapphire nodded. “Exactly. He was furious that my son had someone try to kill him, so he retaliated by having my son murdered. You must hurry and arrest him!”
Romona's red lips quivered. She was shocked by the theories of Millicent and Sapphire.
What kind of messed-up logic is this?
How did Finnegan manage to hold back until today without wiping them out?
Millicent barked, “What are you all still standing around for? Tim looked for someone, but Finnegan is still alive, and Tim is dead now. You all need to hurry up and arrest him!”
Romona finally lost her temper. “Enough. Stop making a scene here. All I can tell you is that your grandson's death has nothing to do with Finnegan. We have already conducted an investigation.”
Taking the confession documents of Jacques from a colleague, she tossed them to Millicent. “All of this was caused by your grandson himself. The culprit, Jacques, has confessed to everything. He was simply seeking revenge on your grandson!”
Upon hearing this, Millicent hastily picked up the documents.
Bishop and Sapphire also gathered around.
Romona snorted. “Do you understand what's going on now? It was Timothy who added insult to injury, humiliated others, and even stole their women. This is what led to his tragic end.”
What?
Slap!
“Enough!” Patrick said loudly.
Millicent's body jolted, “Are you venting your anger at me?”
“Mom!” Patrick said, holding back his anger. “I'm not venting at you. I just think that your fuss is pointless. Moreover, you're purely causing a ruckus. Do you think Finnegan will indulge you?”
Thinking of Finnegan's personality and connections, Millicent said in a gentler tone, “But we still need to find him. I refuse to believe that Jacques has nothing to do with him.”
Wiping her tears, Sapphire said, “Exactly. Is there really such a coincidence in the world? He must have been behind this.”
After casting a disdainful glance at Sapphire, Patrick said, “Mom, don't look for Finnegan for now. Let's go home and I'll explain everything to you. If you're still not satisfied after that, I won't stop you from looking for Finnegan. I'll even go with you!”
Millicent pointed at his nose. “You said it yourself. Let's see what you have to give me.”
Subsequently, they got into the car and left the police department.
Romona also emerged from within and took a seat in a car in the parking lot.
Yawning, Waylynn said, “I'm exhausted. How did it go?”
“It's done. Finnegan is too cunning. Jacques killing Timothy must have been his doing.”
“Who else could it be but him?” Waylynn started the car, a playful smile on her face. “I do admire such a man, though. I wonder how I could drive a wedge between him and Bernice.”
Romona widened her eyes. “You want to take him down?”
Waylynn stepped on the gas and drove off. “During the treatment, he saw my whole body. He has to take responsibility. Is there a problem?”
Romona's lips twitched.
