The Heartbreak Prescription novel Chapter 883

Chapter 883

When Shaun woke up, he was already lying in a hospital bed. The strong smell of disinfectant filled the room, and there was an IV drip attached to his hand.

He stirred slightly, his voice hoarse as he called out, “Halsey…”

Martin rushed over, clearly relieved. “Mr. Lane, you’re awake? Thank god! You scared me half to death! You passed out in the pouring rain. The doctor said your emotions were too intense, and your anger mixed with the cold got to you-that was why you collapsed.”

Shaun tried to sit up, but he quickly realized his whole body felt weak, and his head was spinning.

Martin hurried to stop him. “Are you trying to get up? The doctor said you need to rest and can’t move around right now.”

Shaun stared up at the ceiling. The images of his heartbreaking goodbye with Halsey in the rain kept flashing in his mind, making it hard for him to breathe.

“I have to find Halsey… I need to find her…” Shaun reached out, trying to pull the IV out of his

arm.

Martin panicked. “Stop, you can’t take that out! You really need to rest. You’re not well enough to be walking around.”

“Get out of my way! I need to see Halsey!”

Shaun was too worked up. Within moments, his vision went dark again, and he passed out

once more.

“Mr. Lane!” Martin quickly called for help. “Doctor! Doctor, come quick!”

The doctor ran some tests, then turned to Martin and said, “Mr. Lane is very weak right now. He can’t handle any emotional stress. He needs complete rest.”

“I understand. Thanks, doctor.”

After the doctor left, Martin sat beside Shaun’s bed, watching him sleep. “Mr. Lane, your health comes first. Please stop pushing yourself like this.”

Even in his unconscious state, Shaun mumbled under his breath, “Halsey… We’re not breaking up… Halsey… Halsey…”

He kept calling her name.

Martin sighed. “I’ll call Ms. Mallin right now.”

He took out his phone and dialed Halsey’s number.

Halsey hadn’t slept at all. She had tossed and turned all night, wide awake. When she looked out the window, Shaun’s car was gone.

He had left.

She had said so many cruel, heartless things. She was sure he had been devastated and left. She figured he wouldn’t come back again.

Halsey felt a hollow ache in her chest. She buried herself under the covers and cried alone until morning.

Just then, there was a knock at her door. Patricia’s voice came from outside.

“Are you still not up?”

Halsey quickly replied, “I’m still in bed. I want to sleep in.”

“Well, at least eat something before going back to sleep.”

“I’m not hungry. I don’t want to eat.”

“Alright. I’ll leave breakfast for you. Eat it when you’re up.”

“Okay.”
