Chapter 893
Madeline hugged Halsey tightly. “As long as I’m around, no one else gets to be my sister-in- law!”
Halsey felt a warm rush in her chest. No matter what happened between her and Shaun, at least all the love she had given Madeline hadn’t gone to waste.
Not long after, Shaun called from outside the room. “Dinner’s ready! Come eat!”
Halsey led Madeline out. On the dining table, there were three sandwiches and some salad.
For someone like Halsey, who couldn’t cook to save her life, she couldn’t help but admire Shaun. In such a short time, he had managed to whip up sandwiches and a salad.
Shaun pulled a chair out and took a seat. “Let’s eat.”
Halsey sat down next to Madeline, feeling a little guilty. She came to take care of Madeline, but she hadn’t been much help at all.
She took a few bites of the sandwich, but she didn’t have much of an appetite and couldn’t eat much.
Madeline looked over. “Why are you eating so little?”
Halsey didn’t dare bring up the pregnancy. She smiled and said, “I just haven’t had much of an appetite lately.”
Madeline frowned. “Why not? Are you feeling sick too?”
Halsey paused. She wasn’t sick-she was pregnant.
Just then, Shaun, who was sitting across from her, suddenly asked. “Is it because my food isn’t as good as what you get at Harmony Bistro? Or have you lost your appetite because I’m sitting here?”
Halsey froze. What was he talking about?
Madeline blinked. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Shaun’s lips curled slightly as he looked at Halsey with mockery in his eyes. “Weren’t you just having dinner at Harmony Bistro the other day? You didn’t seem to have any problems with your appetite then. But now? You don’t wanna eat?”
Halsey finally understood. He was being sarcastic. He thought she was faking it.
Before she could say anything, Madeline frowned. “What’s wrong with you? Why are you being so mean to Halsey?”

Halsey didn’t want the siblings to fight over her. She quickly grabbed Madeline’s hand. “He didn’t mean anything by it. Don’t get the wrong idea-”
Shaun cut her off. “You’re the one who’s got it wrong. I meant what I said.”
Halsey was stunned into silence.
Madeline’s expression turned serious. “Shaun, what’s your problem? If you keep talking to Halsey like that, I’m kicking you out. You’re not welcome here!”
Halsey quickly picked up the sandwich. “Stop fighting. I’ll eat. See? I’ve got my appetite back!”
She was about to take a bite when a wave of nausea hit her. She clutched her chest and bent over as she started to gag.
Madeline immediately dropped her sandwich and moved to pat her on the back. “Are you okay?
