Chapter 892
Chapter 892
Halsey stood there holding a burnt pot, looking defeated. “I’m sorry. I ruined it. I burned the bread and cheese.”
Madeline couldn’t help but laugh. She quickly stepped forward and took the pot from her. ” Let’s be honest-you’re just not cut out for the kitchen. I already called someone who can actually cook.”
It was true. Halsey had no cooking skills. She thought she could just learn, but reality hit her hard. Now that help was on the way, she couldn’t be happier.
“You called a chef?” Halsey perked up. “If I’d known, I would’ve just brought the one from home.”
Madeline opened her mouth to reply, but right then, the doorbell rang.
Ding-dong!
Halsey’s eyes lit up. “The chef’s here already? I’ll get the door!”
She ran over and opened it with a cheerful, “Hello-”
But the words stopped in her throat. Standing outside the door was a tall, familiar figure.
It was…Shaun.
Shaun had come.
Halsey thought it’d be a chef-she never imagined it would be Shaun.
What was he doing here?
Halsey froze in the doorway.
Shaun glanced at her face with a neutral expression, barely looking her way.
Just then, Madeline ran over. “I asked Shaun to come! He knows how to cook. From now on, let’s leave the kitchen stuff to him.”
Shaun stepped inside, frowning. “Why does it smell like something’s burning?”
Madeline pointed toward the kitchen.
“That’s the grilled cheese sandwich Halsey was trying to make for me.”
Shaun
gave the charred sandwich a look, then shot Halsey a glance like she was hopeless.” This is the first time I’ve seen someone burn a sandwich.”
Halsey blinked. She had just been completely humiliated.
“I’ll do the cooking,” Shaun said.
Madeline beamed. “Thanks, Shaun.”
Shaun reached up and unbuttoned his black suit jacket, slipping it off to reveal a crisp white dress shirt underneath. He rolled up the sleeves neatly, then walked into the kitchen and got to work.
Halsey watched him, stunned. A tall, handsome businessman standing in the kitchen cooking –just the thought of it was enough to make her heart skip a beat.
They always say men who can cook are the most attractive. She was starting to believe it.
She hadn’t expected Shaun to show up at all. Now, being under the same roof again, it was honestly a little awkward.
Madeline tugged at Halsey’s hand. “Come on. Let’s go back to the room. Shaun will call us when the food’s ready.”
