Chapter 937
Shaun paused, his eyes on her flat stomach.
“What’s wrong here?” he asked.
Halsey looked back at him. “What do you think?”
His large hand moved gently over her belly in slow, careful circles. He asked, almost cautiously, “Don’t tell me it’s…”
Halsey smiled faintly, the corners of her lips lifting. It looked like he was starting to figure out that she was pregnant.
How would he react?
She looked at him, hopeful. “I—”
“Wait,” Shaun cut in, “is it because I hurt you last night? Is that why you came to the hospital?”
Halsey blinked, stunned. The hope in her eyes disappeared instantly.
What the hell was wrong with this guy? She wasn’t here because she was in pain-she was pregnant!
Shaun’s icy expression softened as he kept rubbing her belly. “If I hurt you, you should’ve just told me. You don’t need to keep it to yourself. It makes me misunderstand, you know?”
Halsey closed her eyes for a second. Clearly, she had no choice but to spell it out.
She gently pressed his hand down. “There’s something I need to tell you.”
He looked at her. “What is it?”
“I’m—”
Before she could finish, his phone rang. The sudden ringtone broke the moment.
Shaun glanced at the screen. “I need to take this.”
It was Martin. “Hello? Mr. Lane, where are you? Mr. Bowman from Magnus Corporation has been waiting for a while.”
Shaun frowned. He had completely forgotten about that meeting. Ever since he brought Halsey to the hospital, his mind had been filled with nothing but her.
“I’ll be there right away,” he replied.
After ending the call, he turned to Halsey. “I have to head to the office now.”
Halsey gave a small nod. It clearly wasn’t the right time to tell him. She would find another moment.

“You should go. I need to head home, anyway. I haven’t been back in days-my parents are probably worried.”
“I’ll drive you,” Shaun said.
Halsey shook her head. “You should go to work. I can get home on my own.”
Shaun’s tone turned firm. “No, I’ll take you first. Your place is just ten minutes away. I’ll head to the office after that.”
Halsey gave in. “Okay.”
Ten minutes later, the car stopped in front of her house.
Halsey got out. “Go ahead. I’ll be fine.”

Shaun looked at her. “Get some rest. I’ll call you later.”
She nodded. “Alright.”
Then, Shaun drove off.
Back at the hospital, Gilbert was still there when someone hurried over-it was Chelsea.
She rushed up to him. “What’s going on? Why did you call me here in such a hurry? And… What happened to your face?”
