Chapter 941
Warren stared at Halsey with a cold smirk.
“How can you be so shameless? You’re the reason Shaun was disfigured, and now you have the nerve to act like you don’t know? Don’t tell me it wasn’t you!”
Halsey was completely lost. “It really wasn’t me!”
Warren let out a sharp, bitter laugh.
“If you’re going to accuse me like that, you’d better have proof,” Halsey snapped. “What exactly happened three years ago?”
Shaun had never told her the real reason behind his injuries. Now, she wanted to know.
Warren looked Halsey straight in the eye. “You want me to spell it out, huh? Fine. Three years ago, Shaun was badly injured while working undercover. He came back to see you, only to find you with Gilbert. The two of you were practically engaged!”
What?
Halsey froze in shock, thinking that was impossible. She would never be with Gilbert, much less marry him!
Warren kept going. “Shaun was standing outside your house, covered in wounds. Then some men showed up, shoved him into a car, and threw acid in his face. That’s how he got disfigured. And then, they drove the car off a cliff, with Shaun still in it.”
Halsey was stunned.
She had no idea Shaun had faced something so terrifying. He had never told her any of this.
“Who did it?” she asked, voice trembling. “Who would do something that cruel to him? Was it ever investigated?”
Warren gave a cold snort. “Still playing innocent, huh?”
What was that supposed to mean?
Suddenly, something clicked. Halsey stared at Warren in horror.
“You think I was behind it?”
Warren’s eyes were sharp. “Of course I do! Those men told Shaun that you were the one who sent them. That he was a stain on your perfect life, and you wanted him gone for good.”
Halsey’s pupils widened in disbelief. This was absurd-she had never done any of that!
Now, everything made sense-why Warren hated her so much, why Shaun refused to talk about what happened.
Warren glared at her. “Now, do you understand why I can’t stand you? You nearly got Shaun killed! It was Chelsea who stayed by his side. She’s the one who truly deserves him.”
Halsey clenched her fists. “I didn’t do it!”
“Didn’t do what?”
“I didn’t do any of those things three years ago! I didn’t send anyone after Shaun. They were lying! I had no idea any of that happened!”
Warren suddenly laughed, cold and harsh. “Of course you’d deny it. But I know it was you.”
“It wasn’t!” Halsey insisted. “This whole thing has to be a setup. I swear I’ll find the truth and prove my innocence!”
Warren said nothing and just sneered.

At that moment, the waiter came by with two cups of coffee, setting one down in front of each of them. “Here’s your order.”
Warren picked up his cup and took a sip.
