The Heartbreak Prescription novel Chapter 944

Chapter 944

“Shaun, help me! Save the baby! Shaun!”

Halsey could only cry out Shaun’s name over and over again, clinging to the hope that he would come and save their child.

Shaun didn’t even know the baby existed. Was this really how it would end? Was their baby going to be taken away before Shaun ever knew?

Hot tears streamed down her cheeks, blurring her vision.

Gilbert and Chelsea stood off to the side, exchanging smug glances.

Shaun wasn’t coming.

Back at the CEO’s office, Shaun had just finished his work and was sitting in his office chair.

He pulled out his phone and dialed Halsey’s number, hoping to invite her out for dinner. The gentle ringtone rang again and again, but no one picked up.

Why wasn’t she answering?

Shaun’s brow furrowed in concern.

Martin stepped in. “Is Ms. Mallin not answering?”

Shaun redialed. Where was Halsey? What was she doing that she couldn’t pick up?

Yet, there was still no answer.

“Maybe she went to see Dr. Crone again and didn’t hear her phone,” Martin said again.

That actually sounded possible. Halsey and Wendy were best friends-if anything happened, Wendy would likely know.

“I’ll call Dr. Crone.”

Shaun found Wendy’s contact and dialed her number.

The phone rang once before it was answered at a calm, steady pace. Wendy’s clear voice came through. “Hello, Mr. Lane.”

Shaun had always respected Wendy—not just because she was Halsey’s closest friend, but also because she was a doctor and had

treated his face.

“Dr. Crone, I wanted to apologize for what happened with Gilbert at the hospital.”

He had already asked his people to handle the aftermath, but he still felt the need to apologize in person.

Wendy gave a light laugh. “It’s okay. I completely understand how you felt. Seeing a romantic rival would bring out the worst in anyone. It just proves how much you love Halsey. I’m happy for the two of you.”

Shaun nodded. “So, Halsey came to the hospital today to see you…’

Wendy’s tone shifted slightly. “Oh, you already know why she came?”

“Of course,” Shaun replied calmly. “Halsey told me herself. She said her stomach was feeling off.”

In truth, Wendy didn’t agree with Halsey hiding her pregnancy, so hearing that Shaun already knew made her genuinely happy.

“That’s good to hear. Just remember to keep things more moderate in bed moving forward.”

Shaun smiled slightly. “I understand, Dr. Crone. I would never hurt Halsey.”

“It’s not just about Halsey. It could also hurt the baby.”

The baby?

Those two words hit Shaun like thunder in a clear sky. Baby?

His hand tightened around the phone. “Baby?”
