Chapter 115

Third Person’s POV

Randolph’s hand gripped the knife handle so hard it shook with fury, his entire arm trembling.

Finished

He gritted his teeth, standing like a shield before his wife and children. I may be useless, but if anyone dares to bully my kids, I’ll fight them to

e death!

Howard gave the omega a sharp look.

The omega hurried to open the door, letting

Pack

Let me go!

Suards outside rush in.

No matter how skilled Cassian was, he couldn’t hold his own against several elite guards swarming him at

once.

Moreover, with his father and grandfather present, he couldn’t fully unleash his power.

Seeing that they couldn’t suppress his struggling, the guards waited for a moment of distraction and injected him with a sedative, quickly carrying his limp body away.

Wilmot swept a warning glare over Trista’s parents before storming out in

a

rage.

Things had reached a point where Alaina knew anything she said would be futile. She didn’t speak again.

Before leaving, Howard dropped his final words, cold as a judicial sentence, Since Trista has put it in such terms, the interest is waived. I will have someone handle the termination in full. There is no need for us to meet again.”

Ulva kept her back to Howard, her voice equally icy. That suits us perfectly.”

Only after the Ironthorn contingent left did the suffocating aura finally recede like a tide.

The apartment felt cramped and real againthe walls, the lights, the water rings on the coffee table all carried the eerie quiet of survivors after a storm.

Ulva walked to her daughter’s door and knocked, her knuckles tapping so lightly as if she were afraid of shattering something. Trista, open up.

The door opened a crack.

Trista’s eyes were bloodshot, her face so pale it looked drained of life.

The moment she saw her mother, the last taut string in her mind snapped. She collapsed into Ulva’s arms, sobbing so hard she could barely catch her breath, repeating I’m sorryover and over.

Ulva held her daughter, stroking her back rhythmically. Her voice trembled, yet remained infinitely tender. You don’t need to be sorry. It’s enough that you’re home.”

But Trista couldn’t stop crying.

Chapter 115

Through her time working away from home, she had learned exactly how hard it was to earn a livingthe price of dignity was high.

She didn’t have the strength to support her parents and brother on her own yet, so she had to keep some savings, even if that money felt like a blade cutting into her selfrespect.

This was the first time she had ever set aside her pride for the sake of money.

What was even harder to bear was that her parents were dragged into it, forced to stand under the pack’s scrutiny and pushed to the edge of the abyss alongside her.

Trista cried, and Ulva cried with her.

Attwater and Randolph stood at the door with red eyes, neither entering, acting as silent sentinels guarding her final shred of privacy.

Over an hour later, Cassian woke up in the Ironthorn packhouse.

In the council hall, Howard sat at the head of the table, silent.

That silence was more oppressive than any lecture; no one dared to cross the line.

Wilmot and Alaina, however, were locked in a fierce argument, their voices echoing through the hall like clashing waves.

Cassian’s complexion was unnaturally grim, the redness in his eyes lingering like the marks left by a suppressed wolf instinct.

He tried to ignore the bickering and leave, but Howard’s voice stopped him.

Stand still.

With just those two words, Cassian froze.

He walked to the center of the hall and stood before Howard, speechless, like a man awaiting the pack’s judgment.

Howard looked at him, his tone level and precise. We have reached an agreement with the Silverlight pack. Once the signing ceremony with Shadowfang is over next month, you will terminate the mating bond. In the meantime, find a way to settle Samantha and Algernon. Even after the termination, you are forbidden from publicly revealing their identities.

Wilmot chimed in immediately. Cassian, this is how a man should act. You are the Ironthorn heir; the weight on your shoulders is heavy. Feelings are worthless in the face of reality. The one thing you can’t afford is being emotional.
