Chapter 205

Third Person’s POV

Watching Trista kneel before Howard, begging for him and Samantha to be together, Cassian felt like someone had slammed a sledgehammer into his chest. He was suffocating.

He lunged forward, grabbing Trista’s slender arm with a frantic grip. Trista, get up!he roared, his voice cracking with desperation. What the hell is wrong with you? Stop this insanity!

But Trista didn’t flinch. Instead, she reached back and gripped his cold hand.

Her eyes held a look of finality that terrified him.

Cassian, help me ask Grandfather, she pleaded, her voice thick with fake desperation. For the sake of the child, I’m sure he’ll agree. You two deserve to be togetherofficially.

As they stared at each other in the heavy silence, Cassian felt a physical tearing sensation in his chest. It was the mating bond, screaming.

Alaina watched the scene unfold in silence. Her eyes drifted from her son’s panicked face to Samantha’s calculated fear, and finally to Trista’s dead, empty eyes.

Finally, she stepped forward and shoved Cassian aside with a cold, dismissive shove.

Alaina turned to Howard. She took a deep breath. Since Cassian and Samantha are so deeply in lovethat they brought a child into our territory, there’s no point in us elders playing the villain anymore. For the sake of giving that innocent boy a name, just give them what they want. Let Samantha have her chance. Let Cassian and Trista dissolve the mating bond.

Trista shot Alaina a look of pure gratitude, as if she’d just been handed a key to her prison cell.

Cassian, on the other hand, looked like he’d been struck by lightning. He stared at his own mother in total disbelief. Mom? Do you even hear yourself? What the hell are you doing?!

Alaina didn’t even look at him. Her voice was clinical and cruel. I’m helping you. And I’m giving Trista a chance to actually survive.”

The strength drained out of Cassian’s body. He stumbled back, his legs nearly giving out.

Samantha was quickshe lunged forward to steady him, grabbing his arm.

She couldn’t believe her luck. Alaina, who had always looked down on her, was suddenly her biggest ally.

Swallowing her joy, Samantha snuck a look at Cassian’s pale face before bowing repeatedly to Alaina.

Thank you! Thank you for understanding! But I’m just a rogueI know I’m not worthy of a Alpha. I just want to live quietly under Ironthorn’s protection. I’m not asking for a title, I swear.

Fred, who had been watching from the sidelines, strolled over. He gave Samantha a mocking, sideways glance. Don’t be so humble, Miss Fernandez. You’re Cassian’s first love. All these years, even with a Luna, you were the only one in his heart. He’s waited forever for you to come home. You should give him what he wants a real mating bond.”

Chapter 208

Fred, shut the hell up!

Cassian snapped. He lunged at Fred, grabbing him by the collar and shaking him so hard his knuckles turned white.

His eyes were bloodshot as he glared at his former best friend. We’ve been friends for years. Are you seriously that desperate to see me lose my mate?

Fred let out a cold laugh, easily clamping his hand over Cassian’s wrist.

His voice was like ice. If I were Trista’s brother, you wouldn’t even be standing right now. I’d be making sure you two rejected each other this second.

Fred shoved Cassian back with a violent jerk. The moment you chose Samantha and that kid, you threw Trista into the abyss yourself. Since you’ve already given up on her, what right do you have to keep her caged by your side?

Wynn, hiding behind Fred, finally found her voice. Cassian, please. If you love Samantha so much, just let Luna Trista go. Even Mom is begging for you!

Cassian let out a guttural, animalistic roar at Wynn. SHUT UP!

Wynn flinched, shrinking back instantly.

Fred pulled her aside, whispering, I have to handle something at my pack. Stay here.”

He shot Cassian one last look of pure contempt before walking out of the hall.
