The Heartbroken Luna's Choice Banish Love novel Chapter 212

Chapter 212

Third Person’s POV

As soon as Trista finished speaking, she felt a heavy shackle deep in her soul finally snap wide open.

She could feel her wolf curling into itself, no longer even trying to reach out through that ragged, failing bond.

She had already bled out every drop of loyalty and passion she had for this relationship. Now that she’d decided to pull the plug, she didn’t have a single ounce of pity left.

From now on, her time and energy were reserved for people who actually mattered.

She flashed Cassian a smileone so bright it was almost blinding. It was the look of someone who had finally, totally checked out. Let’s go,she said. Take me home.

The entire drive back, Trista was on her phone with Ulva, her laughter filling the small cabin of the car.

Cassian sat beside her, radiating a thick, toxic cloud of Alpha pheromones. He looked like a beast on the verge of a total meltdown.

Even though she was sitting inches away, he was terrified to find that he couldn’t catch a single flicker of her emotions anymore.

As soon as they reached the Blue Bay apartment, Trista bolted for the bathroom.

After days in that healing center, the smell of that rogue, Samantha, mixed with hospital chemicals was making her gag. As the Luna, her instincts were screaming at her to scrub every trace of that filth off her skin.

When she stepped out, drying her hair, she found Cassian sitting on the edge of the bed like a heavy, silent

monument.

Trista acted like he was part of the furniture and headed for the dressing room.

The air was finally filled with her own scentpure and clean.

You have to apply the scar treatment every day.Cassian stood up and intercepted her, his hand clamping onto her shoulder as he forced her to sit on the bed.

He reached for the collar of her robe. The second his fingertips brushed the silk, Trista’s survival instincts kicked in like she was facing a predator. She yanked the robe shut, her pupils shrinking in fear.

Cassian’s hand froze in midair. The light in his eyes flickered out like a dying candle, and his Adam’s apple bobbed in a desperate swallow.

Ever since he’d lost his mind and forcibly marked her by biting her neck that night, her wolf had revoked all his clearance.

If he showed even a hint of matingenergy, she went into full lockdown mode, radiating nothing but fear and disgust.

Chapter 212

Cassian fought back the crushing sense of failure that threatened to rip him apart. He took a few jagged breaths, manually dialing back every bit of his Alpha aura until even his claws were hidden. His voice was a raw, shaky whisper. Don’t be scaredI’m just helping you with the medicine.

Trista’s tense shoulders dropped, just a fraction.

She loosened her grip on the collar but pulled the cold duvet over her chest to keep some distance between them.

Cassian held his breath, his movements almost submissive as he eased the robe off her shoulders.

Her backwhich used to be flawlesswas now a map of dark red welts. They looked like jagged centipedes crawling across her skin.

As a highborn Alpha shewolf, these wounds should have vanished in hours. But the scabs were barely forming.

Cassian could feel ither wolf was crashing because the bond was starving. Without the powerfrom their connection to sustain her, her healing factor had withered away.

His fingers were covered in the bitter herbal ointment, and they were shaking.

He moved so slowly, treating her like a piece of glass that might shatter if he breathed too hard.

He tried to use the contact to rebuild even a tiny shred of a connection. Today, at the healing centerhe started softly.

I’m heading back to the Silverlight territory this afternoon. Make it quick,Trista cut him off. Her voice was like a sheet of winter ice.

She knew she couldn’t outmuscle a lead Alpha, so her only play was to shut down all emotional communication.

Near sunset, after dropping Trista off at her parentsplace, Cassian headed straight for Samantha’s

apartment.

The second Samantha saw him, her dull eyes lit up. She rushed to the door. Cassian! What here?

you doing

Cassian scanned the room, his gaze cutting through the space like a blade. He looked at Samantha’s mother and Algernon.

Georgia, being a lowranking wolf, knew better than to stick around. She felt the terrifying pressure in the room and quickly made an excuse to take the boy out.
