Chapter 261
Third Person’s POV
Fred looked at the two men across from him, still trying to kill each other with their eyes, and let out a tired sigh. “It’s just a seat, guys. Do you really have to do this here?”
“Why wouldn’t we?” Isaiah sneered, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
“Alpha Cassian didn’t seem too worried about ‘boundaries‘ when he was out playing house with that rogue and her kid.”
Cassian’s eyes sharpened like daggers. “If you’re not here to eat, get out.”
“Actually, Cassian, he’s got a point.” Fred dropped his smile, his voice taking on a bit of an edge.
“You’ve got a whole kid with Samantha now. Why start talking about boundaries today? If Trista wants to hang out with her friends, what’s the problem?”
Cassian turned to Fred, his voice stone–cold. “If you’re looking to starve tonight, you can leave too.”
Fred and Isaiah traded a look. That stubborn wolf pride kicked in, and they answered in unison: “We’re stayin.”
Trista watched these three grown men acting like toddlers fighting over a sandbox, and she felt a migraine
coming on.
She snapped her menu shut. Her voice wasn’t loud, but it carried. “One more word, and I’m leaving.”
The table went dead silent.
The three men, who were just baring their teeth seconds ago, suddenly looked like house pets. They tucked their claws away and sat there, quiet as mice.
Outside the restaurant window, Samantha was walking by with her mother, Georgia. Through the glass, she saw everything.
Samantha ducked behind a pillar. She watched Cassian–clumsy but careful–peeling shrimp for Trista. She saw Fred eagerly pouring her juice, and even the wild Isaiah was busy putting food on her plate.
The harmony of the scene was nauseating. Samantha’s eyes burned with pure envy.
She came from nothing, but she’d always felt that her art school background and her body gave her an edge over anyone.
Now, with her plastic surgery and her millions of followers, she felt like she’d finally made it out of her social class.
So what if Trista has a good family name?
The Silverlights was bankrupt. What right did she have to act so high and mighty?

Chapter 261
What kind of magic did a healer have that made all these high–tier Alphas follow her around?
Finished
Georgia noticed her daughter’s face twisting with rage. Fearing a public meltdown, she quickly dragged her back to the car.
“I thought you said Cassian was unmating her?” Georgia asked, sounding uneasy. “Why are they out eating together?”
Samantha clenched her fists so hard her knuckles cracked. Her chest heaved. “Cassian wanted out,” she hissed through gritted teeth. “It’s that bitch. She’s the one clinging to him, refusing to break the bond!”
Georgia patted her daughter’s hand. “Don’t worry. They don’t even have an heir. As long as you and Algernon are around, that mating bond will break eventually.”
But she looked at her daughter with a hint of doubt. “But looking at them… it didn’t exactly look like they were ‘over‘ each other.”
“They’re still legally mates until the bond is cut!”
Samantha snapped, sounding like a cornered wolf. “They share a social circle. It’s normal to eat with friends!”
“So… has Cassian said when he’s bringing you into the Ironthorns?”
Samantha’s face turned dark enough to drip ink.
She suddenly raised her voice. “Mom! You know damn well whose kid Algernon really is!”
Georgia flinched and immediately shut up.
Samantha took a jagged breath, a flash of desperate madness in her eyes. “Cassian feels guilty, but he’s a top–tier Alpha. He’s not stupid! It took everything I had to trick him into claiming that child and making him swear a soul–oath to keep it secret. Can’t you see he’s already starting to regret it?”
“The only reason he’s still carrying this weight is because he’s obsessed with his old promises and his guilt! If I push him too hard right now, I’ll lose the only protection I have left!”
Seeing her daughter spiral, Georgia rubbed her back. “Samantha, calm down! Men want what they can’t have. You’re his first love. No one can ever truly replace you in his heart.”
Samantha closed her eyes, her lashes trembling.
Right. She was the first shadow Cassian had ever marked.
As long as that “first love” lens was still on, she still had a chance to flip the script.
Truth was, that “first love” was something she’d spent a whole year begging for until Cassian finally gave in.
Back then, he was as cold as a glacier. No matter how many mating pheromones she threw at him, he acted like a monk–zero interest in any kind of intimacy.
If she hadn’t hit a dead end abroad, she never would have come back to sink her teeth into him again.

Georgia sighed. “You worked too hard to catch this big fish, don’t let him snap the line. Your nephews‘ futures going to those fancy schools in Europe–it all depends on you. If things get bad, just listen to that old lady, Alaina. Take a big gamble. You don’t get rich without taking risks.”
Samantha’s eyes flickered. She nervously toyed with the hem of her shirt. “Mom, Alaina is a fox. What if she’s just using me as bait to set me up?”
