Chapter 264
Third Person’s POV
+5 Pearls
Trista knelt halfway beside Georgia. With a practiced flick, she slid a small black bobby pin from her own
hair.
She leaned down, her warm breath ghosting over Georgia’s car. Her voice was a whisper meant only for the two of them, but it carried a chill that made the older woman’s soul shudder.
“Your daughter stole my mate. She shredded my mating bond. And now she’s trying to strip me of my dignity in the middle of the street.”
“As a healer, I know exactly where a werewolf’s weak spots are.”
Trista’s eyes tracked the back of Georgia’s trembling neck. Her fingertips hovered just above the sensitive scent glands at the base of the skull. “If I aim this pin just two millimeters off, your wolf dies instantly. I promise you’ll never feel the Goddess’s light again. You’ll spend the rest of your life as a vegetable, paralyzed in a bed like a dog with a snapped spine.”
“Don’t blame me. If you want someone to blame, look at your precious daughter.”
The second the tip of the pin brushed Georgia’s skin, the older woman’s eyes snapped open.
“Murder! Help! She’s trying to kill me!”
Georgia scrambled up as if she’d been hit by lightning. She bolted into the crowd, moving with an agility that definitely didn’t belong to an unconscious woman.
The crowd froze for a heartbeat before erupting into cheers and mock applause.
“Now that’s what I call miracle cure!” someone shouted.
Samantha’s face went pale. She stole a nervous glance at Cassian’s thunderous expression and tried to force a twisted smile. “Oh, thank God… my mom is finally awake.”
Cassian’s gaze was a mess of conflicting emotions, the scratch on his face looking more jagged in the streetlights.
He stepped toward Trista, his posture dropping into something resembling a plea. “Since she’s okay, let me drive you back to the healing center.”
Trista didn’t say a word. She simply reached out and opened her palm.
Cassian’s eyes fell on the ordinary black bobby pin sitting in her hand. His pupils shrank.
GUID
He reached out to take it, but Trista was faster. She flicked her wrist and tossed the pin into the gutter like a piece of toxic trash.
Cassian’s hand froze in mid–air. He looked completely stranded, his pheromones turning gray and defeated from the public rejection.

They stood there in the middle of the noisy street, the mating bond between them letting out a final, dying scream.
“I honestly didn’t want to bother with either of you,” Trista said first. “But you just won’t stop pushing, will you?”
Cassian felt a crushing weight in his chest. He reached for her hand, but she stepped back, avoiding his touch.
“If I remember correctly, two hours ago in my office, you told me to ‘give you time and that you’d handle things. Is this what handling it looks like?”
Cassian’s chest heaved. He opened his mouth, but the words were stuck in his throat.
“Fred saw through the act. Isaiah saw through it. Even I saw it.. But you? You were the only one who chose to believe them.”
Cassian stared at her, taking a tentative step forward. Trista took another step back.
“Cassian, we grew up together. We’ve been mates for three years. And yet, in front of all these people, you stood firmly by another woman’s side. You called me dramatic. You questioned my ethics. You trashed my character and told the world I wasn’t fit to be a healer.”
Cassian felt like the oxygen had been sucked out of his lungs. He wanted to get close to her, but his legs felt like lead.
Trista looked him in the eye, her voice hitting like a hammer. “Don’t forget, Cassian–my dream was to be a violinist. I only gave up the Conservatory and chose medicine because you had insomnia. I did it for you.”
“Anyone else can question my career. But not you, Cassian. You don’t have the right. You don’t deserve to.”
With that, she turned her back on him and walked away.
“Trista!”
Cassian watched her receding figure, a dull, throbbing pain radiating from his heart.
Just then, the ambulance finally pulled up.
Samantha gave Georgia a sharp look, and Georgia immediately slumped back down, huffing and puffing.
Samantha waved the paramedics over as they loaded her mother onto a stretcher.
She hurried over to block Trista one last time, her face a mask of fake sincerity. “Luna Trista, I’m so sorry for what I said. My mom just went down, and I panicked. Please don’t hold it against me.”
She glanced back at Cassian.
“Cassian, I was out of my mind with worry. Once I get her settled at the hospital, I’ll come by and apologize properly.”
Then, she hopped into the ambulance and vanished.

Trista watched the vehicle disappear, feeling completely exhausted.
Samantha was a one–trick pony, and Trista was annoyed she’d ever taken her seriously,
She turned and headed for the other side of the street.
Fred and Isaiah stepped in, one on each side, blocking Cassian. They held him there until Trista har safely crossed and the light turned red.
Fred gave Cassian a mocking grin. “Hey, Georgia is headed to the ER. Aren’t you going to go check on her?”
Isaiah scratched his head, playing along. “Nah, man. Cassian only cares about Samantha. He can’t be bothered with every little detail.”
Cassian’s mood hit rock bottom. Their biting sarcasm felt like it was choking him, leaving him standing alone in the cold night air, unable to breathe.
