The Heartbroken Luna's Choice Banish Love novel Chapter 269

Chapter 269

Third Person’s POV

Samantha dug her nails into the cracks of the floorboards until her fingertips bled. She stared at the closed door, a raspy curse escaping through gritted teeth, Bastard!

When things were good, he’d listen to anything she said.

But the second she stepped out of line, he’d punish her just to make sure she knew who really owned this territory.

She slumped against the cold floor, the terror Isaiah had instilled in her still fresh, only to be compounded by Cassian cutting her off.

She knew exactly what he was doinghe was scrubbing her out like a mistakeso he could go back and patch things up with Trista.

But she refused to be evicted.

She had bled to get a foot inside the Ironthorns; she wanted to be the queen of the most powerful pack in LA, and no one was kicking her out of the game.

Stumbling back to the bed, Samantha grabbed her phone and dialed Alaina’s private frequency.

Evening, at the Shadowfang packhouse, Trista packed up her healing tools, dragging her feet.

She really didn’t want to walk out that front door.

Alistair saw right through her, If you’re trying to hide from him, I’ve got plenty of empty rooms,” he said, his voice lazy. Stay as long as you want.

Trista was about to let out a breath of relief when Alvin walked in.

She

gave him a polite nod, but Alvin cut straight to the chase. Trista, Cassian’s been waiting downstairs for over thirty minutes. Since the session is over, you should get going.

Trista gave Alistair an awkward glance before heading out.

Alistair sat in his wheelchair, his white shirt unbuttoned at the collar.

He stared at the empty doorway, a playful edge to his voice. Grandpa, you’re in an awfully big hurry to kick my healer out.

Alvin’s face was grim. He slammed his cane against the floor. Alistair, she carries the Ironthorn mark. You need to know your place.”

I don’t care whose mate she is,Alistair scoffed. If she’s on my turf, she’s mine.”

Alvin swung his cane, catching Alistair across his broad back.

Alistair didn’t even flinch; a hit like that was nothing to him.

I know you’re angry, but you just got back to LA. You don’t understand the board yet,Alvin warned, glaring at him.

The eight great families here are locked in. The Gilberts of the Icepeak Pack and the Simmons of the Ironthorn Pack are bolted together by mating and money. The Bloodmoon Pack has been an Ironthorn satellite for years, and the Sheptrans are allied with them. You move against one, you move against all of them.

Alvin paused, his voice tight with caution. Cassian looks refined and controlled, but he’s more ruthless than his grandfather ever was. He put Ironthorn at the top of the food chain in just a few years. He is not someone you want to provoke.

Alistair let out a dismissive snort.

He can’t even keep his own mate. Is he really the god you make him out to be?

Alvin shot him a lethal look before slamming the door as he left.

By the time Alvin made it downstairs, Cassian’s car had already cleared the Shadowfang boundary.

Back at the Blue Bay apartment, Trista didn’t even acknowledge Cassian. She walked straight toward the guest room.

Cassian moved like a flash, blocking the doorway with his arm.

Trista, you wanted a physical? I did it. You’ve seen the report,” Cassian said, his voice thick with suppressed agitation.

How much longer is this cold war supposed to last?

Trista tried to push past him, his skin feeling cold under her hand. The incubation period for those diseases isn’t short. Even if your blood is clean today, I’m not gambling my life on your loyalty. Get away from me.

They faced off in the narrow hallway.

Cassian clenched his fists, fighting the rising wolf instincts inside him. I’ll sleep on the sofa,he bit out.

Whatever,Trista said flatly.

After they’d both finished getting ready for bed, Cassian was still standing in the middle of the room like a shadow that wouldn’t leave.

Right in front of her, he pulled out his phone and systematically deleted every trace of Samantha― contacts, messages, even the lingering magical remnants of her frequency.

Trista stared at him like he’d lost his mind.

At the restaurantI was on the wrong side,Cassian said, his voice low and raspy as he searched her eyes.. I’m sorry.

Trista felt a jolt of shock.

She’d known this Alpha for over twenty years; he didn’t bow his head to anyone.

Cassian-she looked at him suspiciously. Did Samantha give you some kind of incurable trouble that you can’t get rid of?

Cassian’s face went dark.

Trista, I know you’re disappointed. I know you feel like I betrayed our mating bond.

He lowered his guard, trying to step closer. The drama ends now. I won’t let that rogue interfere with us again. Can we just go back to the way things were?

Seeing Trista’s face remain cold, he turned to a more diplomatic tone. The Gilberts are hosting a gala tomorrow. As the Ironthorn Luna, I need you there with me. Please?
