Alpha Cassian watched her perform under the lights with a dead expression.

To an Alpha of his rank, her omega scent wasn't just unappealing—it smelled like a vat of spoiled cheesy syrup.

He stood up slowly and set the pen-shaped recorder down on the table.

Right then, Humphrey knocked and entered.

Samantha let out a sharp gasp, scrambling to pick up her clothes and throw them back on.

He looked over at Samantha.

She quickly forced a flattering smile. "Business comes first. I'll wait here for you."

Cassian grabbed the recorder off the table. His voice was low and loaded with hidden meaning. "I promised you a birthday you'd never forget, and I keep my word. Sit tight for a bit."

"That's all I needed to hear," Samantha gushed, her head spinning with greed. "I'll wait as long as it takes."

Cassian gave a slight nod and walked out with Humphrey.

The second the door closed, Samantha spun around in excitement.

She could feel it—the way Cassian had looked at her was intense. She was convinced her omega pheromones were finally working.
